No chance at all he was trying to develop the kids rather than playing 8 guys all season this year and then worrying about next year next year. I think most fans are too short sighted to really get what player development means. I have also seen people say JP suddenly figured out what Richard could be rather than understanding that he wasn't quite ready to be what he is now. I have never been to practice so I don't know what the guys look like there, but I would guess and hope that practice performance is the prime determinant of playing time. Sent from my SM-G900P using proboards Good gosh man, ride your fastest horses in the biggest races. This is his year, player development for next year shouldn't be the reason for this record. If player development throughout the season were the case then there'd certainly be more contributors here that have made the decision to transfer. Short sighted, bah humbug. KK had this nailed down before the first game. What took this staff so long to recognize the error in their ways? Try this on for size.... one of your "fast horses" comes up a little lame on Monday Night (if they get there) and the rest of "the horses" don't even know what direction to run around the track. Then what? After the regular season ends you are potentially but one game away from next season.

This argument has nothing to do with that the fact that the players weren't playing to their own strengths. Siena has 4 1,000 pt seniors averaging over 30 mpg as it is. And they were STILL losing. It seems to me that the team was not given a good understanding of their logical roles entering the season. JP continues to say over and over he's a "feel" guy. That tells me, he wasn't setting up a whole lot of well thought out structure. The winning strategy, to me, seemed well established and yet they went away from it. JP is a 'man to man coach' but his team plays better in zone...so he tries over and over to make the man D work. It's been the same since the day he got here. He knew his team lacked 3 pt shooting depth. He should have accepted it and focused early and often on 2's and FTs. We did not see this. Instead they shot more threes than usual and played to their own weakness. They played man and gave up easy 2's to opponents left and right while shooting difficult threes by players who shouldn't have been shooting them much in the first place like Clareth and JO. It speaks to a poor fundamental understanding of the strengths of a team 4 years in the making. You would think after 4 years the same 4 seniors there would be a play or 2 catered to their strengths besides the back door alley oop. And a defense catered to the fact that LL does not have the speed of a MAAC 3 man as well as the fact that our help D sucks in man. Put JO in a position block shots. Put Bisping in a position to draw charges. Don't put them in man where they're out of position and trailing a quicker dribble driver and risk fouling. Allow them to utilize what they do best. These are things that would seem logical for this team.

Win the maac and all will be forgotten for awhile.

One other little pet thing I've noticed that has always glaringly shown up when we play SPU.
Dunne double teams bigs very well. Always has and I say it year after year. We struggle with that both on offense and defense as we don't double enough inside. Against Dunne, you can't throw it into the low post with no motion or an easy outlet...yet year after year we try the same thing.
The fact that Bisping, JO, and Long turned it over 13 times that game is NOT a surprise. They had 10 the previous game against them. It's coaching, on both sides. Know who you're playing against. Be ready to counteract that damn double team. IT. IS. COMING.

COMING. this is a short coming of not only the head coach................but the assistants that he surrounds himself with..............the turnover has been as dramatic with his staff as it has been with his roster of players............certain staff members have their niche, could be X & O's along with game prep/scouting, could be recruiting, could be player development, overall running of the program behind the scenes, logistics/coordination of scheduling/trips, following ncaa compliance rules, tracking student/athlete academic progress, etc...........not much is gonna get accomplished if you have voids in any of these specific area's, and I am sure I am not even mentioning a bunch of other important ones..............ugh

His insistence in staying man to man is troubling to say the least. You would think that there would be at least one assistant coach on the staff, like Manning, that would speak up and start dialogue addressing such issues. When fans watching the games can see fairly obvious problems or things that need to be addressed, what are our coaches seeing or talking about when watching film?

Do you actually think he would listen and then take actions that he didn't come up with - not in his over ample DNA - he reminds me of a nano-scale Trump as I stated, it comes down to 2 things, either he is dumb as a box of rocks or one stubborn MFer........my guess would be on the latter......lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My point was that you need people to step in if things go sideways, and the only way to have them is to grow them during the season. It is not like the regular season where you can say, well we lost that one but there are 5 more to go. It would be a shame to lose a winnable tourney game because you didn't have a replacement for one of your fast horses just because they have no real experience.

Ok, so with the "player development" you've seen, who ya going to when the chips are down? I mean if they did that much losing for the sake of player development we should be able to get valuable minutes from everybody right to the end of the bench. I think Jimmy is using guys to their strengths now rather then twisting them to fit some dream he had. The thing is Jimmy is developing or somebody on the staff is and we're seeing better basketball because of it. I think the guys had it all along.
