The Bronco's Lundy (20 pts) and Carey (double-double 13-14) provided the one two punch beating the Saints in their last meeting at Rider. What really knocked the Saints out; the starting Siena gaurds shooting a combined 0-13 from 3 and 8-39 from 2.
I just don't see another dismal shooting performance like that at home on Tuesday. If the Saints continue playing team ball and provide a solid defensive effort Siena should be able to keep that conference home streak going strong. A win could also push the Saints to the number two spot in the MAAC standings.
Great reasons to skip watching the game at home and head down to the TUC. Let's make some noise and help Siena get another win at home.

Even without Nico we are down to 347th in the nation in 3 point shooting. Either need to hit some threes tonight or avoid taking them. Probably not going to survive another 3 for 14 night and win. Good news is Rider is 334th in the nation in 3 point percentage so they aren't much better. So yes, we will be watching a MAAC game tonight where both teams shoot worse than Arkansas Pine Bluff.

The Saints return home after getting their first road win of the season. They did a nice job defensively on Cobb and Nelson. It looked like the team was prepared and had a game plan. Let's see if that rolls into this game. Preparation should not be an issue. They have seen this team once and you know what you are going to get from Rider. There are a lot of similarities between these teams. We likely won't be seeing anyone shooting the lights out in this one. Siena going 1-19 from three is not going to happen again... at least it shouldn't. First, Nico is out and won't go 0-8. Second, Smithen will be getting more minutes this time around. I liked watching him getting back on defense in the Fairfield game. He seems like he really understands the game and gives the team an added cerebral dimension on the court.
I think Ogunyemi's play is very important and he needs to be smart with the ball and go up strong. It's be nice to see Quis penetrate the defense for some layup opportunities. I think taking smarter shots this time around makes the difference and don't let Kahlil Thomas go off. Having Fisher or Friday in this game for extended minutes is bad news, Rider has some skilled guys on the inside and keeping out of foul trouble is key. Otherwise, Rider can slowly stretch out a lead that the Saints won't be able to make up in short order. No offense to Fisher or Friday, but having Bisping and Ogunyemi in there levels the playing field and those are two of the best big guys in the league. I see this game being a lot like the Fairfield game in that neither team is taking a large lead at any point. If by chance Rider begins to extend the lead I'd like to see Jimmy use Fisher's and Friday's fouls to put Rider at the line to try and stem the tide. Siena has been playing better. A big difference I saw against Fairfield is that they were patient in finding holes in the zone defense and not chucking up threes after passing the ball around the perimeter for 20 seconds.
I think Siena plays a solid game - nothing flashy, but they'll get the job done although it will be a nail-biter... Siena 75 Rider 72. That will make four wins in a row before heading on the road to play two games they need to win to be taken seriously as a contender for the MAAC title. Just keep brewing a winning formula game by game. I think Jimmy was distracted by the shiny ball (Nico's swag, Quis-Ogunyemi alley-oop, Quis' scoring ability) that he was not coaching to the players' strengths. The bench is not very strong right now. I like what Richard and Shivers can give this team, but they need to make the jump next year. Keep playing Quis at the point and let him do what he does best. He has a nice player in Smithen to complement his game. Smithen is smart and able enough to handle the ball to get Quis shots if the team needs them. Let Quis run the show on the floor, he's played with these guys long enough and against these MAAC teams enough to understand what needs to be done.
Siena has the second longest win-streak in the league at 3 (I think this is right) --- let's get #4! I think this will match the longest winning streak in the Jimmy era.

Take the occasional 3 when available. I hate being low in a "good" stat category but I like wining more. Let's go Saints!

Siena has 3 of the top 10 in the maac in FG% ... get them the ball inside more. The more JO, Bisping and Long get the ball in the post, the most foul trouble opposing teams are going to have and the better 3 point looks our guards will get.
I love aggressive get to the rim Wright and want to see less of set shot from behind a pick Wright.

Will be watching on computer from my hotel in NYC and rooting them on (even though some don't think so...)

Let's hope so. They are coming off two straight losses to Manhattan and St. Peters so standings wise, it's a big game early in the league for both teams.
Two hands on those rebounds boys!!!

Let's (I have to say Siena because it drives Hankla mad when I imply I'm on the team with comments like "we" ... .) help Rider go 0-3 in their past three games!!!

They have to get Rider in foul trouble, I don't like the way things look here.
