wow, a win, hard to remember what those were like..............but anyway, first half zone D was good, really good, only reason SPC was ahead was the turnover margin as Siena had 11 before the break, every other stat category pretty much was a plus for the Saints, we also only had 4 fouls in first 20 minutes (yippee)..............so now we start 2nd half, and JP has them playing man (why? ), and guess what happens, tons of fouls, we still dominate the stats but SPC hangs around and eventually takes the lead because they are scoring pts from the FT line...........the last few critical possessions though at the end of the game, they go back to the zone and it essentially preserves the win...........Nico has awful form on his shot, and his body language on the floor is lousy, more so when he clobbers an opponent for an obvious foul and then lips off to the ref for a tech (really, sorry but he should not have been sent back on the floor), he is so into playing "hero ball" it isn't funny....................and yes Wright had no business trying for that layup at the end, all he had to do was circle back out to the perimeter and clock would have expired, mind boggling lack of basketball IQ he displayed.....also very risky that Lavon threw the home run ball with SPC defender close to Wright as it was almost intercepted...............they need to win another one on Thursday to start a mini-win streak, but that is to be determined..........

St Pete's offensively is putrid Totally agree, but they beat Monmouth. That's saying something.

Glad I was not alone at the TUC - I was treated to another questionable offensive performance, but for long periods of time, one of Siena's best defensive efforts. Smithen offered a lot again tonight on the defensive side, and he is a high energy guy. That huge change you all felt in the atmospheric pressure tonight around 9 PM was the collective "sigh of relief" from all Siena fans in attendance - near loss, but.... a WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yipee!!!! I look forward to seeing MORE Siena fans Thursday night! Keep going Saints! A small fire has just started! Man, am I feeling better!

I'm trying to talk Pat into going to the Fairfield away game. So far this season when she attends a game Siena wins. I think there's something to it.

Still think Nico is a good player 6th man MAAC last yr but man he looks just awful now not sure what's up Nico didnt get to put work in between freshmen and soph season- so he never made soph jump- plus Nico clearly isnt same, he isnt as explosive. Nice shot at end of game thou... Good to get a W-- it was a ugly win-- but it was a win!!! A W is W but yikes we struggled to beat a team who couldn't throw the ball in the ocean in the second half. Not good. We almost gave the game away at the end as well. Not playing smart. As far as Nico I'm talking about his head not being in the game. The physical aspect of his game I get... What I'm talking about is that he looks like he's lost his attitude, his swag, his cockiness. Mentally he doesn't seem to be the same player. He went from a player that played with emotion to one that just seems like he's in a rut and going through the motions. No fire. Smithen missed time & has a bad shoulder yet is playing with fire and intensity. Nico not so much.

I also said Providence called to tell us/me that we could keep him. What I'm saying is: 1) he isn't good enough to play there, and 2) I'm tired of these kids all thinking they're NBA players

Smithen saved our bacon tonight. He did what none of the seniors can do....go 2-2 at the FT line late in a game!!
Thats two solid games in a row from him. I'm sure slim will be here soon to give him his props.

I'm sure slim will be here soon to give him his props. I believe some time ago I posted that Smithen was the kid most like Ryan Oliver personality wise. Good to see JP finally made the connection, bad that the kid is playing and diving for passes with a messed up shoulder that is scheduled for surgery right after the season. Again, we are not healthy; well we don't seem to ever be and I will leave it at that. There is seriously a training issue, IMHO. By the way, Ryan loved the presser....he is waiting for his check.
