Had two Christmas parties yesterday. Only caught a bit of the game down the stretch. Always good to get a win. I will have to watch the whole game to make an assessment, but a win is always good. Now on to Hofstra to get a true win on the road. Go Saints.

Siena win = 1 post
Siena pregame dread = 230 posts
I guess the operative approach is if you don't have anything negative to say, don't say anything. ;-)

Bill I think the prior thread contained pre mid and post game discussions but nice try.
Because you're so enamored with Jimmy and the job he's doing here at Siena; retaining staff, retaining players, recruiting, his leadership skills, his ability to build a cohesive unit and his skill level as a pre and ingame tactician maybe you would care to expound on why you think Jimmy is doing such a fine job. I don't mean rhetoric, give me concrete details as to why he should be given more time beyond the 4 year opportunity he's had already to turn the program around.
I'm really curious because most people I know who's opinions I respect regarding the sport and truly understand the game are not really big fans of the job he's doing (I'm not talking about people that post or even read this board BTW). The general consensus isn't good.
So go ahead enlighten us. Here's your chance.

Glad to see this team get one. Brett with good post game presser. Lavon shows up and that usually results in a good outcome. Nico has now experienced a better outcome whole making better and fewer shots. No one could argue his and Lavon's performances were key to the team win. I'm glad the desperation heave by Quis found its way through the net or we would have gone to OT, IMHO. The game plan looked better but the top MAAC teams are going to be tough to by with 6 minute droughts of not scoring.

Exactly all we have been hearing is wait and see, wait until the maac season starts, wait until march, then march comes and goes and suddenly the new recruits are pumped up beyond recognition and it's wait till the season starts, rinse, repeat. Oh and do you go to practice, if not you have no idea how good these players are omg how are we ever going to keep so and so satsfied there are not enough minutes lol. Meanwhile the fan base is eroding and more and more games are being played away from the tuc. Talk of the a10 or even maac championships are getting harder and harder to see in the rear view mirror, replaced with how great it is to win one game against a marginally good program.,, but golf claps for the good win, much needed.

A couple of things Jimmy did like keeping Nico under control and limiting looks actually helped, having Lavon at the PG worked this game although I think vs the MAAC it isn't gonna fly. Even Bucknell adjusted in the second half by putting a quicker player on him, in the 1st half they had a bigger kid on him which helped to open up the paint/inside game. Don't expect that to work when teams can scheme against it. I didn't like that we had 2 long droughts scoring the ball, that's gonna cost us games. All in all it was a win but I still see issues. Of course a win is always a step in the right direction.

Watched the game twice now. At times the team impressive with defensive hustle. The droughts, I'll give those to MW having to sit so much. Trying not to be a homer but 2 of his fouls seem a tad over the top should have been just play ball, but the fouls all in all were pretty equal.
Free throw shooting must improve, god, Siena is awful, especially at the end of the game, kids tired yes but still.
EF, can someone find a home for him. Sure he is a great kid, but what did they see during the recruitment process. Thank god Friday is back, is there something wrong with WB and play Huerter, gotta be better that EF.

At the end of the year based on production, it is time for decision making. Until then I will just attend the games and support the program. You have your "process" and opinions and that if fine.

Of course a win is always a step in the right direction. Lavon has a sweet mid-range jumper from the foul line that we haven't seen enough of this year. If MAAC teams try to put small guards on him when he runs the point he should be able to eat them up shooting the foul line jumper over them. I'd also like to see more efforts when a smaller guard is on him to clear out and let him post up the little guy. If you've got a 6'7" guy that can run the point in the MAAC then the possibilities are endless. Let's hope he gets comfortable there and starts taking advantage of the mismatches.

I'm guessing opposing coaches are going to know it's coming an start to pressure him with quicker players and he can be turnover prone when forcing the issue. Just a hunch.

Without a doubt he is going to have some issues there, for starters he's not going to get away with those lazy passes at the point. If he can get comfortable there and reduce the turnovers then it could be a huge help this season. It will be interesting to see what happens going forward as teams can gameplan for it.

Was Prosper the last time we had someone that tall at the point? I think maybe but I'm having an half-heimer sort of day... Must be the snowflakes clouding my brain . I agree about LL being able to shoot from top of lane over smaller guard, but not confident in his court vision to thread passes. Just an observation, not a criticism.
