Brett Bisping may not be himself and the Saints rely on his rebounding because JO is not very good at it. So this is creating a big problem for Siena.
The time has come to change the approach.
Evan Fisher is averaging just 3.4 boards per 30 mins played....horrible for a big man...so-so for guards. Sammy Friday is averaging 10 boards per 30 mins played so far....great for a big man.
If Jimmy Patsos was really serious about fixing the rebounding and interior D issues, look no further. The team can no longer afford to have a non-defensive player out there for so many minutes.
The team is shooting 38% from three. Fisher is shooting 18%. His shot is struggling and we don't really need it in the first place.
Khalil Richard is showing that Kidani Brutus game now. He's the shooter.
It's time to retake the paint.

I agree. Friday is not an offensive threat but neither is Fisher so far. If Fisher is not hitting 3's I don't see what he adds to the team. If Jimmy doesn't want to go with WB then Friday should get all of Fisher's minutes.
When Nico comes back though the top 9 should be set - Wright, Clareth, Long, Bisping, JO, Richard, Smithen, Shivers, Friday.
We can only hope Brett gets better quickly.

Even if Friday ends up not that great on offense, empty minutes will start turning full because at least we'll be getting some defensive benefit. I think he's got more in his tank offensively than Silas.
I think Patsos is bringing these issues on himself by his one big head scratching rotational decision he makes every year.
Evan Fisher might be 6-8 and a very good kid, but he's not a big man. Maurice White might have been 6-4 but he wasn't a guard.
Accept it.

Siena is being outrebounded by 8.5 boards per game right now: Seriously.
If his rebound rate held up, giving Friday all of Fisher's minutes cuts that number down to 3. 3 is a much more respectable number when you consider that GW and Kansas were in there.
Is Fisher playing worth giving up potentially 5.5 possessions per game? That's not even adding in the difference in FG% defense.
If Patsos continues to be stubborn, he will deserve his fate. I will stick up for Patsos 90% of the time but on certain decisions like this, he's on his own. I hope he changes his tune.
This is a lesson he should have learned last year.

Marquis Wright is sitting on a god like 21-2 assist ratio and Siena is 1-3.
Clearly, some things need to be re-evaluated.

I saw this coming last year with Silas and nothing has changed since. The million dollar question is why is Patsos so enamored with Fisher's game? There's something. Was he the lead on Fisher's recruit, is there a link to Fishers HS /AAU coach, is he seeing something in-game that we're missing?
I don't see practice but I do see games. Based on very large sample size (games) Fishers not working out in his current role. Again this isn't a knock on Fisher, Patsos calls his number and he's going out and trying his best. It's up to the coach to know when your best isn't getting it done.
It's the definition of insanity to repeat the same pattern and expect different results.
I just can't figure Patsos out.

Fisher only averaged 8 mpg last year and Bisping was money most of the year. He could be hidden. If Bisping isn't superstud, Fisher's shortcomings become amplified. They have always been there though. Fisher averaged just 4.3 boards per 30 last year and he's actually down from that so far. He can't play 20 mins per game. You're basically conceding the boards while he's on the floor.

If you told me Marquis Wright had 21 assists - 2 turnovers and Siena as a team would have 60 assists and 44 turnovers shooting 44% from the field and 38% from 3 and we'd be 1-3 I'd be very surprised. Rebounding (-8.4 per game) and defense (83.2 allowed per game) have killed us. Brett's injury concerns have hurt the rebounding for sure. I don't know what's up with the defense - we're more athletic than then we were last year. Sure the Kansas game can skew it but what about the other three games? And we played pretty well at Kansas.

Brett is clearly not himself, get him healthy-- in meantime start Lavon at 4.. more than stats. I like Friday but he is still learning game out of position a lot-- but Friday should be 1st big man off bench- not EF. Fisher is not one of our top 8 players and he should not be getting 18 min a game
Jimmy said he was going to talk to Brett and re evaluate today- some changes have to be made. JP do whats right

I actually like Shivers so far. He's made some plays. And he's shot the 3rd most FTs on the team.

For those seasoned fans Brett's season is paralleling Jeff Robinson's senior year. Both had very good junior years but Jeff digressed his Sr. year. I hope Brett gets it together and plays to the extent or better than he performed last year.
