We lost it because of foul shooting. I think we were 8 for 14 and they were 18 for 23. We make three more and we win. Close games usually come down to foul shooting and the number of attempts. Like not missing the front end of 1 and 1s. I'm not saying the reason why we lost was solely because of FT but the fact that we didn't attempt more (style of play) may have contributed. Yes, missing FTs at end of game hurts, similar to Kenny Hasbrouck missing a critical one against Ohio St at end of game; but we pulled that one out so we were a little less critical of that one. Sure, we didn't shoot a great % for this one close game but if I were concerned, I'd be more concerned with why we didn't make more tan our opponent attempt? I believe KK has noted that stat in the past. We started out trying to go inside, but we were missing close shots & we weren't getting fouled. Plus as everyone noted, we're normally a very good rebounding team and we got out rebounded by a material margin compared to last year's stats. Some of that is attributed to LL not being available (one of our better rebounders). It's early, hopefully we'll work this all out and have the great season we're looking for.

So attempts prior to the final minute were 15-13.

We all know that the primary goal for November and December is player development for the conference games and tourney that follow. Was there improvement noted in the GW game? Can we build from there? I hate losing as much as anyone but...

Rest assure there will never be anyway near as many posts after a win on this board .. Anonymous cheap shots are easier to give than praise.

It's not all about the MAAC or three days in March. I get some coach-speak but I cringe when Jimmy says something to that extent. While an NCAA at-large is probably a pipe dream an NIT at-large is realistic and so is seeding if you make either of those tournaments. Any loss this year outside of tomorrow is going to be a disappointment that doesn't mean I expect us to win every game but many of them we should. I don't think GW will stink like some are saying. I think we'll look back at it as a missed opportunity for a quality A10 road win. But there are still a bunch of chances to get quality wins both in the non-conference and in the MAAC. I do agree it was only the second game of the season and if we learn and get better from it then some positives can be taken.
