Jimmy mentioned the missed free throws in the post game radio interview. I've been advocating, telling people, as early as last year that our key guys need to shoot 2-3 practice free throws before each half at games. They are all caught up in shooting 3's or dunking in practice. I told Kadeem at practice before he was able to practice to tell the guys to practice them before each half. He would get out and shoot free throws when there was a break in practice. Our opponents shoot 80-85% and Siena struggles to reach 70%. They are the difference in a lot of games. I guess I'm preaching to deaf ears. If as been mentioned that the coaches read these boards maybe there will be a more concerted effort to practice them. I was told that Paul Hewitt required his players when he coached here that his players had to make 10 straight free throws before they could leave practice.

I know that this is a sore point for you, and I do not mean to minimize the importance of foul shots.........they can be a critical factor in any game, and they were last night. But rarely will a team shoot "80-85%" in a game, let alone for a season. And Siena shot 73% from the line against Cornell, and 72% for all of last season, both very respectable numbers. And you know as well as I do that the team shoots a LOT of free-throws in every practice, at different times during the practice, and under different conditions. So it isn't like the coaches are downplaying foul shooting. And from what I've seen at games, the players do take some free-throws before the game and at the half. I'd be more concerned about the number of free-throws the team takes during a game. Thirteen free-throws in last night's game over forty minutes is pretty low. I didn't see the game, and was not able to listen to much of it, so I don't know how the game was being officiated, but obviously our guys didn't get to the line very much. And if Marquis hits the two foul shots he missed when we trailed by one late in the game, we might not even be having this discussion.

We settle for too many 3's. Shoot them, and you usually don't get to the line. JO is our only inside presence that draws fouls.

As mentioned make 3 more FTs and this is win. Which is a ridiculous statement. So I'll say make One more 3 pointer and this is a win. Shit happens in a game it doesn't come down to a few missed FTs and if you think they need to practice FTs that's even more ridiculous. They do.

This is a direct correlation between to many perimeter shots and not attacking the rim. You reap what you sow!
