Anyone know why Patsos is blowing the travel budget in '18-19 by starting a series at San Francisco? Seems odds. Good conference, the team, not so much.

Siena is on the verge of starting a series with San Francisco, Jimmy Patsos tells me. First game would be at USF in '17-18, at TUC in '18-19San Francisco is a nice city to take your team to. Siena probably will play another game on the trip (maybe a buy game against UCLA or another P-12 team). San Francisco has a new head coach former Columbia coach Kyle Smith. Could be a really solid opponent in 17-18 and 18-19 when they come to the TUC should this deal get finalized.

I heard France is too dangerous for vacation so this is where the Mrs. wants to go. Wine tours already booked.

We could do what the hawks did...play UCLA and USC on this trip.
I hope SF is better than Cornell and Loyola.

The last five years per Kenpom San Francisco has been on average top 150 team, in a league that is in the top 10 leagues annually. It is an "attractive" trip for players and could be paired with other quality west coast teams. What is not to like? It seems like a good series to get going.

As we l know, JP loves to give his players different life and learning experiences. I think some of the young men that we are recruiting for the 2017 season might enjoy hearing that the team will be taking a wonderful and fulfilling trip to the west coast. I see no reason to not believe that this might be one of several reasons for booking this trip.

I think its great. we have been asking for better home teams, San Fran has been sort of up and down, but they are a WCC team. I'll take them over Colgate UNH or Lehigh any day of the week

Maybe by way of Spokane and a visit to the Jesuit cousins out there. Who wouldn't be jazzed by a visit to the Zags even if it is a one-off?

USF series presumes that the MAAC reduces the conference schedule to 18 games. If so the non-conference schedule could look like this:
Home: Albany*, Hofstra, FGCU, St. Bona, UMass
Away: Vermont, Bucknell, Bryant*, Louisville*, Memphis*, Holy Cross, San Francisco, TBA
* Exempt Event
It is possible that the Holy Cross series will start at the TUC. That would give us 15 homes, which was what I was told we would have in 2017-18.
I understand that Siena is getting a very substantial payment for participating in the 2016-17 exempt event. I think that is also funding the trip to USF. Hopefully, Jimmy can schedule a second game on the trip with another WCAC school that would provide another home game in 2018-19.
