The past couple games are certainly concern, but the team can't panic; that won't help. Everybody has to work to get back to where they know they can be! The players have to work hard, show the effort that is needed to beat every team, not just Iona and Monmouth.
I was concerned about the chemistry when Marquis came back. It was a different style team from when we were winning and he was the leading scorer. As Tony said, I was also concerned about giving Marquis too many mins so soon, but my concern was more with his health, but also a chance to have everybody adjust with him back on the court. It's on the coaching staff to motivate theses guys and come up with a plan to make everybody work together and find Marquis' role again. It's on the players to execute that plan and show effort for 40 mins!
Still time to get this ship back on track with a home game vs Quinny and then 5-6 days to get ready for a quart final game.
No need to panic, just time to get to work and find that Siena pride again. GO SAINTS!!

After the game Jimmy said he needs "guys that want to play high energy, full throttle from the start." Might he be thinking of starting Nico in place of Lavon? While I value Lavon's skill set and what he MAY do during a game, it's not incorrect to say he does not always bring it from the start. However, this isn't all on Lavon. As many have stated, something is amiss with the team right now and they only have a short time to turn it around before the MAAC begins. We're all hoping for that turn aound on Sunday--Senior Day. Speaking of which, does anyone think Imoh gets a token start on Sunday?

Seems like something has to happen to shake things up, not saying Nico needs to start over Lavon, but LL played less mins for a reason last night. Was that the msg being sent to him? Is that enough to get him fired up? Jimmy knows better than me.

Lavon doesn't care. That's what pisses me off the most. Jimmy needs to bring in a starting SF TOMORROW. Lavon needs to begin his senior year on the bench. I agree 100% that 'Quis is playing too much. (His man-to-man defense is non-existent) Ball movement has stopped, but when your best players aren't making shots, things will always look bad. I like what Kinnon bough to the table today, hopefully Jimmy gives him 10 min a night. He helps us whenever he's out there. Can't blame Nico's horrible outside shooting on 'Quis. He's simply not making his 3's, just like the beginning of the year. We are paying price of Jimmy not playing Kinnon earlier in year when he insisted on played Cam. Not sure what is going on with Nico-- he was passing up good shots-- definitely not playing with same "swag".. Quis was brought back too quick..before he was ready- his shot looks horrible, and players are deferring to him standing around. He should have been "eased" into line up Bullseye captain.

Have to disagree with MTS. This was a "big" game. A chance to clinch third on the road, which would have been a kind of statement, then go into the MAAC with a two game streak after beating Quinny at home. Now the final game comes with some pressure. Time to see if JP is really Jimmy 2.0 and can solve the chemistry issue.

For all intent and purpose Nico knew he was the main guy from the outside whem Quis was out Now with Wright back Nico's thinking should he shoot or find Quis and let him create?

Manning keeping it real with his post game comments. Team need to learn to play with Quis and it seems like the coaches need to learn how to coach with him. Very very disappointed in the loss and how we started both halts. See ya Sunday hopefully we can right the ship by then because if not it will be a one and done at home in the Maac turny. This is a B.S. statement on Mannings part. He should have said "Quis needs to learn how to play with the team"! Quis can't be out there running the point dribbling the shot clock away. When Kenny's running the point they move the ball. When Wrights on point he's out there 35 feet from the basket dribbling away the shot clock and everyone else is standing around waiting for him to create something. Everyone on this board knew it was going to take Wright time to get back in sync. Why the he-- doesn't Jimmy know this? ?

Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT A RANT. That being set aside here are a few observations from behind the bench last evening: Brett - Appeared ill early - pale, no hop, weak shots and a general lack of energy. Coach not happy with his play/effort or whatever - couple of heated back and forths. Can JP be blind? Seemed to revive second half - Hammer half-time magic - who knows but he played better second half Long - Just didn't bring it to any consistent degree - body language on bench certainly gave all the impression he didn't give a s$%t about what was going on. In one offensive set (?) in the first half he was just standing still near the baseline and made absolutely no move whatsoever when our shot went up. Nico - Many times appeared to be the only player with any energy trying to make plays Kinnon - Obvious problem overcoming the early season shoot/miss/hook coaching philosophy - passed up some shots where he was open for short times - we can't play with 5 guys so we got no shot with only 4 being allowed to score Kenny - Has to be given green light from the getgo and take open shots - Stags were giving him open looks that he passed away from - allows 5 on 4 defense and the Stags were prepared for that Marquis - should be coming off bench - first bucket the Stags got was a simple case of him not able to stay with his man - early foul trouble didn't glue him to the first half bench as they should have - mixed messages being sent by staff to others JO - Stags just played great D preventing him from operating in his comfort zone/area - passing lanes were quickly cut off - we can thank MB for that I'm sure Ryan - first half foil for JP's ire - pass up a shot - yanked - miss a shot - yanked - yadda yadda yadda Imoh - No question he should have been in especially when it was apparent to all, except our HC, that Brett was not himself and needed a blow JP - 2.0 and even a little 1.0 came through - long stretch in second half where he remained seated. Several RANTS at the scorer's table for no apparent or even possible reason - seems to have the view that the team only understands the F bomb while not grasping that it has no lasting influence Team chemistry not evident to any degree - just going through the motions - no confidence or evidence that Sunday's game will have a different outcome Getting tired of the pre and post game JP rant about time between games - if we can't play with one day's rest then we are toast in the tournament, even the 2 seed extra bye would have doomed us - a seed the coach plants at each and every opportunity in each player's mind

The coach shouldn't have let Wright on the floor for as long as he has to take 20+ shots if he's not 100%. Looks to me Wright has been added back with very little thought as to what his role should be, how many minutes he should get and how he should be worked back into the line up so that he would have the least impact on the existing team chemistry. To me it looked more like let's toss crap at the wall and see what sticks approach!
Is it coincidence that things are unraveling with Wrights return? Don't think so, staff has some work to do to straighten this out and not much time to get it Wright!

The difference in the turny vs the reg. season is that every team is on short rest not just 1. So this does not worry me as much as it does others.

Sitting a tad higher it was evident that the team did not have it together last night. Long, good kid, spoke with his mother just wants the best for kid and team, didn't have the fire last night, didn't play enough minutes to get going BB, not feeling well first half?, decent game but sleepwalking at times NC has to figure out what his role is again or perhaps he doesn't MW, again statement following Rider game said it all, team has to get use to playing with me, no Quips team play great ball moved the ball, defenses on this level cannot stop a team that constantly moves the ball JP maybe a few sub combos that were bad but after 29 games these kids know what need to be done, players need to get together and figure it out, if not the coaching staff needs to sit them down Quis needs to figure out team is a different on than when he went down injured While I always don't agree with MP he was spot on here

sitting behind the bench I was amazed at the lack of will or pride in what the team was trying to do. Time and time again there is a lack of effort and focus. The start of the game they blew by Quis like he was Fish. Maybe he isn't game fit enough quickness wise. Then we drop a pass and things add up. I think this team is lacking a true alpha and is to relaxed. I think Nico will be that in time. I would just like to see the team focus. TO's are usually a lack of focus. You can see how frustrated the coaches are. Just some thoughts from up close.

Everybody calm down. We weren't expecting Marquis back until the Quinny game at one point and were just hoping he'd be fit enough to help for the MAAC Tourney. Now he's got 3 games under his belt with the chance at one more to get everyone on the same page for the MAAC Tourney. Don't underestimate what a difference another week of practice and some healing in his hand can make. As for Nico, he's a streaky shooter. There will be some adjustment to Wright being back but you can't pin his 0 for 12 from 3 point on Marquis. That's just a bad stretch, normal for a streaky freshman. Add in Brett going 2 for 11 from 3 and you've got a recipe for disaster. Was actually impressed that they fought back and made a run in both games when they should have been blown out of the building in both games the way they shot. Right now Lavon is the one that needs a fire lit under him. I'd much rather see him playing too intense and fouling out than the disengaged Lavon we saw last night. When the big 5 have it going Siena can't lose to anyone in the MAAC. When 4 of them put up a stinker Siena isn't going to beat anybody.
