with the Saints playing well down the stretch, they are now positioning themselves nicely for being in "consideration" for post season events.........................NOW, we know for sure that the NCAA is the GOAL (as it always should be), and Siena is without a doubt a legit contender to have a chance to cut down the nets in Albany, won't be easy of course, but the fact that they are playing their best basketball at the right time of the year, have their best player back from injury (Wright) and get to play on their home court has them feeling very good & confident in March..................that being said, with their rpi hovering under the 100 range because of their overall schedule, it has also put them into major consideration for other events, like the NIT....................some websites for NIT bracketology have Siena in the field, and the fact that many of these sites also have Albany, Bona & Hofstra listed (3 teams that the Saints beat) is a good indication for them as well....................CIT & CBI are easily within reach under their current formats, plus there is a new post season event called the Vegas 16 (played at Mandalay Bay)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrows game is important to win not only for race for 2nd but it will also have them at 4-1 in their last 5 games looks better than a mediocre 3-2 if they are looking for any post season invites.

Wow a trip to Vegas I did not know that. I think the nit is a stretch unless they can get the rpi under 80. Any word if we are going to buy home games if it's the cit/cbi? I know the ncaa is the goal so hopefully it's a moot point. It's been a great season so far with every possibility still in front of them. www.gazellegroup.com/main/cbi/

I suggest we take it one day at a time here. Fairfield has won 5 in a row and if we lose to Iona, the game at FF on a short turnaround is now a game for 4th place.
The Rider game was too easy. Heads in the clouds. Saints need be ready to play.

Take no one lightly and take them all with same ferocity one at a time.

Already did the math if Siena wins one more game they can't finish worse than third even if FF finishes at 13-7 Siena wins any tiebreaker (going down the list). Check that one more win and FF can't catch us for third - SPU theoretically could but they'd have to beat Monmouth today. But I agree one at a time. Any team with AJ English is dangerous and we have to be ready for Iona to have a chance at the #2 seed.

They beat Iona too...and SPU... If they beat SPU in their final game, would that not be the tiebreaker for FF to take 3rd?

They added another tournament?
So now you have NCAA (68) NIT (32) CBI (16) CIT (32) Vegas (16) - 164 teams out of 351 get to postseason (47%) I think it's starting to get too watered down. It's like the bowl system in college football now.
Really it's the NCAA and everyone else. The NIT is not the same deal as it was in the 90's. Other than better TV coverage I'd almost rather play in the other tournaments for a realistic chance to advance and play at home (NIT now sends mid-majors on the road to BCS teams heavily favored to get to NYC)
Anyway our #1 goal is well within reach - need to finish strong hopefully get the #2 seed and make a big run at the MAAC championship!

If Siena and FF both finished 13-7 - would have split with each other and Iona - swept by Monmouth - FF lost first game vs SPU - both split with Manhattan swept both Canisius Rider - FF split with Quinnipiac - Siena would've swept Q if they were tied at 13-7 with FF. SPU could still win a tiebreaker vs Siena if they beat Monmouth otherwise we get it.

KK said it and I'm going to say it tomorrow is a "must win" Iona has owned Siena and a sweep is a start in the right direction. Barring a total collapse next week and in the tournament Siena has done enough to play in the post season.

The real "must win" vs Iona will be on March 6th in the same building should that match-up occur. The winner tomorrow likely gets the advantage of more rest should there be a third meeting.

I disagree it is still less than 50% and gives us a chance to play against interesting teams. Really as longv as Siena finishes in the top half of the ncaa ( should be every season) i would enjoy seeing them play extra games. Get more practice in, do some free recruiting it's a cant lose situation.
