Hate to see anyone get injured but that could be a big blow to Monmouth. Jones was a very good player (probably only behind Robinson). Monmouth still has the best player in the conference and a top 3 rookie but losing Jones hurts. They're still the heavy favorite but the gap is narrowing.

Tournament now wide open. Injuries are a major factor. The top 3 teams have all suffered major losses.

I was watching that game; it was very apparent his hand was broken when he came back out to the bench in the second half. Unfortunate for sure, he is the lone Sr., right? tough to go out that way with the season they are having.

I'll even venture to say that without Jones going forward (into next year), Monmouth is too guard-oriented.
Jones was like Long- could create match up problems.
By the way, their scholarships for next year are going to: SG Salnave (6-2) from Queens, NY and C Ibiezugbe (6-11) from West Simbury, CT.
I like our chances going forward.

Deon Jones allowed Monmouth to play fast and small without all the disadvantages that playing small brings.
He rebounds well, plays physical, and is pretty athletic. He even blocks some shots.
Without him...
Do they go big to avoid getting killed on the boards? If so, can the replacement play pressure D, dribble, drive and shoot? Probably not ...if it's a guy like Tillman.
Or do they go small and lose interior D and rebounding?
I don't think Colin Stewart brings the toughness and D. Austin Tilghman is tough and tiny at 6-1. Zac Tillman is a center.
Hornbeak is the 6th man already and not going to help the interior.
Either Pierre Sarr somehow picks up the pieces and is their secret weapon who can be both or they're going to lose some aspect of their team from this injury.
My guess is they just go small.
Manhattan is last, by far, in rebounding margin and they tied vs. Monmouth last night. We'll see how they do vs. a better rebounding team like Iona.
