he twisted my words -- a tried and true tactic when one has lost the debate. I don't know you "Gorvy" but I assume you never played the game. If you did and you were invited with a possibility of playing Duke.....there is no way you (a player or fan) would say no. It's an outstanding game for the players, fans & school........ Guarantee the players and fans were never asked. It's purely a financial move. Will the players enjoy playing there? ABSOLUTELY! Don't need an outstanding game for the fans - we already have one set for 2016 when 4400 or so of us will be OUT STANDING at Sefcu wishing we had contributed more to Saints Alive to allow us the privilege to purchase a ticket to actually come in and support our TEAM.

Be shocked if we ever see this tournament come off-- very expensive to bring in a few teams- Albany doesn't draw and Siena's attendance ..we shall see I fully agree Tony - it will never come to pass. Just a bone to keep the nay sayers at bay for a year or two. Siena, as we currently sit, has zero chance of attracting ANY high majors into a tournament at the TUC! Just more BS - all part of the 5 year plan. The high majors wouldn't come to the TUC. Mark Singelais quoted D'Arg saying the schools are talking to The Gotham Classic. The setup would be identical to the event we are in this year. Siena/Albany would each go on the road for games against bigger schools and then the big boys go off to neutral site games at the garden and the TUC would host Siena, Albany, East Podunk State and North Dakota Mining Institute.

Given Darg's extraordinary negotiating skills we are probably going to share revenue with UA a school that struggles to get 1200 fans into regular season games

Loved hearing on Channel 6 tonight that UA is now able to dictate terms re our own fogging home court! We also, per a TU survey, havw fallen WAY behind UA in terms of being the stronger program in the area. A proud week for Siena hoop. But then, we are where some want us to be - Jimmy keeps saying we are on par with UA. So depressing and he seems content! Just curious what realistic response you'd like to hear from coach Patsos. If you were him, what would you have said today?

Jimmy doesn't need me to suggest what he should be saying on the public stage he covets so much. I am, however, reasonably confident that a few of our prior head coaches might have quipped, while flashing a wide smirk, something along the lines of "We couldn't let the series lapse until we even the score for the last few years!" Only saw the lowlights on 6 Sports but I was amused when Coach Abrahamson said the renewal was a good thing that will allow all of their fans to attend!

No question Siena caved on this. Not only is a great deal for UA fans, it will encourage more fans to buy UA season tickets. It is not Siena's responsibility to increase UA season ticket sales but that exactly what yesterdays presser did. I have zero idea what Siena is getting out of this renewal other than being bent over by UA- and the UA AD and coaches knew it also - amazing.

Sounds like the third year is exactly the sort of tournament we are in this year except that Siena will be the host for the low majors rather than Bryant. Be shocked if we ever see this tournament come off-- very expensive to bring in a few teams- Albany doesn't draw and Siena's attendance ..we shall see It will happen. My guess is by hosting the sub-regional Siena will get no guarantee money for playing the two games at the high majors but it won't cost them any out of pocket expenses.

Albany's attendance has been rising as they have been winning while Siena's has been dropping while they've been losing. This is the trend in the Albany area and has been for some time as far as winning and losing are concerned; But I am very hopeful that Siena is about to reverse last seasons injury-riddled year around with our new recruits and the transfer of Kadeem Smithen for 2016-17.GO SAINTS!!

UA "sort of" has been rising +1150 as Siena's has been "sort of" declining (1400) over the past 5yrs. I say "sort of" since UA has alternated higher then lower attendance "almost" every yr since 2001-02 thru 2014-15. UAs only multiple higher attendance was from the three yrs 2010-11 (2163) thru 2012-13 (2904). For that same period Siena dropped from 7626 to 6351. However Siena had a consecutive 5 yr growth from 2005-06 (5598) thru 2009-10 (7853) the Lanier to Fran transition. UAs attendance is a yo-yo on almost an annual basis. Siena also had yo-yo like seasons. However, if Siena won their conference tournament 3 or 4 yrs in a row, I highly doubt we would have had any decreases during that stretch (like UA had). Here's UAs and Siena's figures by season: 2014-15. 3390 6242 2013-14. 2656 5707 2012-13 2904 6361 2011-12 2480 6509 2010-11 2163 7626 2009-10 2646 7853 2008-09 2826 7497 2007-08 3031 6471 2006-07 3175 5834 2005-06 2541 5598 2004-05 2040 6440 2003-04 1193 6528 2002-03 1803 7362 2001-02 2251 6609
