Did you miss Cole getting banished? That's what good coaches do you rectify the problem. More to it than that Polly. He should have been vetted and never brought here in the first place. Patsos recruiting has been God awful. That shit with Cole should not have gone as far as it did .... This has been going on for awhile .... I honestly don't see how anyone couldn't have seen this coming given his Loyola tenure. Did anyone really think he would change because we are Siena? He specifically likes going after head cases-- it's his thing. Only he can't even get the pick of the litter anymore since not everyone wants to go to school 6 hours away. Quis long had already emotionally invested. As for cole, most of you said I was crazy for judging him by his twitter handle. It's time to stop just watching the videos.

So what? That's his choice. He chose to leave Newark to go to Coppin State. He chose to leave Coppin State. Patsos didn't "get him out of Newark". I think he means gave him a chance to better himself with a free college education and he took it for granted...not as literal as you suggest. Just my opinion No, I think if you go back and read his original quote you might think differently. But he wasn't in Newark when Patsos recruited him, either. If anything, Fang Mitchell got him out of Newark. And before that, his prep school coach.

WOW..... Just wow... This will surely be the next thread to be moved on out of here. Curious to me why it hasn't come yet but by now you'd have to think Fran would of put the gag order out on team..... And mom;)... Tongue in cheek . And they would of listened Just so it's clear , I'm not close to giving up on staff or players I'm sure that there was a gag order on the team. I'm not giving up on the kids either, unless they give me a reason to.

Patrick Cole has been a headache for Siena since he stepped on campus last year. Nothing that would be considered overly serious or scandalous - he's just an all-time shithead. He has a big mouth and pushes the line on everything - has a comment about everything. All of this came to a head in the last two weeks. His teammates, and the staff, were fed up with his antics on Twitter - calling out Albany, making derogatory Tweets about gays and just being an ignorant shit on Twitter. He has been vocal after games while talking to fans and parents of other players about his own complaints about Patsos - either not caring who heard or just being completely oblivious to it. On top of that, Mrs. Patsos reached out to him following some idiotic Tweets that put Siena and the program in a bad light - his response to her was essentially to f*ck off. That was within the last few days. He nearly made the trip over the weekend given the lack of bodies - but I think the staff did the appropriate thing and just cut ties completely. Bringing him on campus is definitely on the staff - I am not sure how much DD they did on him, I'm sure they spoke to the people they needed to speak with - but when the staff took him on, the roster was still very much in flux from Mitch and they saw an opportunity to add a little more talent. Granted, Cole has had some major issues to deal with off the court - he's had a couple of friends murdered and his father passed away since he has been on campus. That is no excuse for his behavior - he had quite an opportunity at Siena to get himself out of Newark and set himself up for a better life. But like I said, the kid is just a shithead. Why is Patsos wife interacting with players via social media anyway? This is getting more ridiculous by the minute is anyone in control of this program?

Coach's wives are an integral part of all college basketball programs. Social media is an enormous headache for all programs. For someone that is part of the program to reach out and remind a kid that there are a lot of people that could interpret things the wrong way is good governance.

Good governance are you kidding me, wow that's a stretch. That was a very poor decision on her part. Looks to me like the inmates are running the asylum.

Since these players are all delicate young men, if the coach didn't see the twitter issue, maybe the responsible adult, Mrs Patsos, should have said "hey Coach, you should address this".

You guys are focusing in on one incident - it was way more than that. hey In this case I dont blame Jimmy, we needed players Patrick had talent and was worth the "gamble" it didn't work out and he is on his way-- sorry it happens all the time everywhere in D1.

Yeah I sure do, I'd love to see a little professionalism restored to the program. I would also like to see it return to a respectable mid major level. Good governance who are you Andrew Cuomo?

This are the type of unnecessary comment that most of us on here find over the top and insulting to our program. You can express yourself in a manner, and show your displeasure, without bringing it down to that level of comment. A season ticket holder that sits just below me made a point to speak to me specifically about sienahoops at the UAlbany game. He said that he used to go on this site (reading) all the time. He says not so much any more because of all the negative comments by many members. He was not complimentary to the type of things that these "fans" constantly were saying. He, like many of us , found them insulting. I don't think some people on here know or care what you sound like to the CD community. We all have frustration, no one is happy with what has transpired over the last 4-5 weeks but have some respect for the program. I can only imagine the derogatory comments I'm going to receive from this but go for it. I'm tired of reading insulting things about the team I love. Sorry but the comment was spot on. I'm an alum and season ticket holder, I want the program to be successful. However, the facts are two players have left the program in the past two weeks and Siena is 3-6 against a horrible schedule. Dumpster fire. I will refrain from any more negative comments since people are offended by them. I'll put on my green and gold glasses, sit on my hands and wait until something positive happens. thank you, I appreciate and understand your response. I don't think anyone wants to tell someone they can't criticize the program. Saintsfan is a great example in my mind of a loyal but critical fan. He has over two thousand posts and he's sometimes very critical. But he articulates his thoughts, gives sound reasons and information to support his opinions. I'm not pointing the finger at you personally but too many people on here don't attempt to even make an effort to contribute in discussion. They piss and moan and make such broad negative statements and that all they ever say. I love reading posts by people like Saintsfan , whether positive or negative, because they're speaking in depth about solutions or articulating problems. It's not just, "the sky is falling". I'm not happy with where we are record wise and I might be guilty of wearing those green and gold glasses at times. Running a DI basketball program is a difficult task, that's why they get the big bucks. JP should be criticized for screw-ups but it's unfair to throw him under the bus this soon.

Well said Tony. This is unfortunate especially along with all the injuries. This can and does happen all the time. It might have been handled better but people are blowing it out of proportion because of our present situation. If we were 6-3, the Cole situation wouldn't be as big of a deal with some people.

I think the normal understanding of the phrase "went after" suggests more of a physical confrontation while saying "f*&^ Off" is a semi-normal way of saying "goodbye" on the street! Neither would be recommended for use when dealing with your head coach's wife! Exactly. As I said, he was a problem and he should be gone. No need to exaggerate it or make Patsos look like a "savior" for getting him out of Newark. Ever been to Newark?

What difference would that make? Patsos didn't get Cole out of Newark, as EVERYONE knows. Cole left Newark 4 years ago, for prep school. Then he went Coppin State. Then Siena. Then he chose to return there.
