He certainly did a good job with UA's athletics, I bet his highlight would be building the football stadium.
I wonder if this move will affect Will Brown at all? We have seen how a change of AD influenced Niagara's situation.

The next AD will have some say about whether UA should stay in the America East or become an all-sports member of the CAA.
I don't think either decision has too much of an impact on Siena, though.

I don't know, if Ualbany moved up in conference, kept winning and upgraded their facilities I could see them taking away some of our casual fan base and recruits. A lot of ifs in there but if I was Siena I'd want to make sure the competitive edge was maintained.

It seems that McElroy had a large role in Brown's maturation as a coach and as an individual. A strong influence.

We'll see how strong that influence is if Brown tries to jerk Siena around in future scheduling. He could be like Mihalich was at Niagara where the new AD they brought in had no say in regard to the men's basketball goings on.

@marksingelais: Retiring UAlbany AD Lee McElroy, asked to describe his working relationship with president Robert Jones: "You'd have to ask him that."

My read was that he was for the move to the CAA but also adding more resources. As we've discussed with regard to Siena moving up - it is a bad idea if you are going to keep funding at the lower-league level. Moving to the CAA is great for UA - IF they spend the cash to keep up. Being in the basement of the CAA is worse by far than leading the AE.

His contract was expiring and they were not discussing an extension so I would retire too
