This is just the moderate/compromiser in me, but I do not like speculating about kids leaving either with no basis in fact or even rumors that come from reliable sources. Did I just say I agree with Yankee?

I don't either, BUT what message is the staff sending to the current team with this kid visiting? There's no more money. So why is he visiting? Maybe we shouldn't be talking about it, but I'll guarantee the players are.
IF this kid is actually visiting, how can kids on the bottom of the food chain not be very concerned?

And we know that patents of at least two players are reading this board on a regular basis so they are reading it wondering what is up. And it was all over Teitter and other team boards where the players can see it.

Wouldn't you assume the staff is communicating personally the proper message to the team about any visits? I would hope so.

Does management on your company always communicate every possible staff move down to all the employees all the time? I doubt it.

I still would hope the staff would communicate the message they want to send. It's part of their job, regardless of how ineffective organizations do it. JP seems to have a good relationship with most of the team and is a good communicator. And it's not like there's a lot of separation between the last guy on the bench and the HC.

What can the staff possibly say to the team? The situation is that Siena has made an offer to Bessick and if he comes to Siena a player has to leave. Taking it one step forward it would also leave only one ship remaining for the '15 class, which I would think has to go for a PG. Last time I checked the staff is also recruiting other players for '15 so kids would be playing for their scholarships next year also. This is a part of D-1 hoops that I don't like but it is a business, lets not kid ourselves. going to be an interesting next few weeks coming up

You are assuming Csm gets a ship next year Just going on what the reports were and quotes from Coach Gottfried. Find it hard to believe that he will pay for more than one year, despite the fact that he can afford it

Why must us as fans be worried about where he might fit scholarship wise? I am sure the staff has the inside info on why a scholly might open. But us speculating on what it could be can only harm IMO. Maybe someone wants to transfer up instead of a "lower food chain" guy needing to be dumped. Speculation does no good for the players on this team who may have family members or friends who partake in our daily repartee, don't we all agree on that?

Second, it is a business BUT... EVEN IF a kid moves on after a year...they got $50,000+ for their year. No one owes anyone anything

Just that its a part of D-1 hoops that I don't like, but understand at this level it is a business and all involved from players to coaches know this. Can you please explain how Bessick can come to Siena without a player leaving. I am sure there are all kinds of rules but I am pretty sure if Bessick were to get some aid and pay his way he would not be able to practice with the team while he sits out his year, but would be able to practice if he is on scholarship. I guess we will all know soon enough

Do you remember Mark Price--- he got a academic ride and did not count against our scholarship count. And yeah yeah I know about the sinus invention from heaven..but the kid was a scholarship player and Lanier got him here when we had no athletic scholarships to offer. Point is we dont know for sure the kid is coming here- what the circumstances are and if anyone is leaving-- an awful lot of we dont knows in there
