Marquis Wright's FT% by month. www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/marquis-wright-2/splits/2014/November = 38.9% December = 61.1% January = 68.8% February = 76.9% March = 85.7% April = 85.7% He's only a 52.9% FT shooter on Fridays though. We should consider that in the scheduling process. Of note, he had 9 blocks in the 7 postseason games. If he continues at that rate he'd have around 40 blocks next year and be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I think he's a potential defensive POY candidate next year. He also had to lead the league in "almost steals". Seemed like 2 or 3 times a game he knocked a ball away that just barely went out of bounds or was just barely recovered by the other team. Turn some of those into steals and his numbers could be absurd. In his last 3 years in HS... he averaged 93 steals and 17 blocks per year (just 26 games per season). As a senior, he had 101 stls and 25 blocks. www.maxpreps.com/athlete/marquis-wright/wZc-o_TqEeKZ5AAmVebBJg/gendersport/basketball-stats.htmAlso, his Assist to TO ratio, rebound rate, steal rate, block rate, and FG% all improved every year over the prior in HS.

You'd think the defenses would learn but they never did.

You'd think the defenses would learn but they never did. Yeah and the offenses too.

Steals and blocks are the least accurate stats... Often given to other players or not recorded at all. I always find them on the film after watching..they miss some every game

I always find them on the film after watching..they miss some every game It's funny you say this. Dave says this all the time. Kids get labeled. For example, someone gets labeled a shot blocker & even when they foul the other guy they don't get called for the foul but get the block. Same with steals. How many times did Kenny foul while going for a steal? He was labeled a great defender & got credited for steals as opposed to some fouls. That's why Wright got called for some fouls when trying to block. He also got plenty if clean blocks which is amazing for a PG.
