Ok why should this be news or an issue to anybody but this kids family? This lifestyle has been accepted for years. This announcement is nothing more than this kid coming to terms with himself. No need for everybody to know or discuss his personal sexual orientation unless he is trying to stake his place in history.

Back to basketball... Pat Cole tweeted the UMass game will be on Saturday, Nov. 15. The date was pushed back. I do not know if we are still opening with them as that would be late for the season opener (Friday, Nov. 7 is when most teams will tip-off next year). Maybe this game will get on TV we will have to see.

No need for everybody to know or discuss his personal sexual orientation unless he is trying to stake his place in history. Not in major sports. The first of anything is always news. As far as why he is doing this, are you questioning his motive? Sounds like part of his 'coming to terms' with it is announcing publicly.

There are tons of kids unable or unwilling to take the risk involved with coming out publicly. It is easy for us to talk about how much society has changed but inside a locker room I can understand people being worried about how teammates and others might react.

Sent from my SPH-L710 using proboards So yesterday. People are proud to be gay, kids are openly gay in high school, for the most part there are no issues. If this was 20 years ago, my hat would be off for the kid. Today, not so much.
