Personally, I'd rather root for a college team that recruits, holds on to and develops their players then one that changes their roster more often than a professional team. It's working for Iona right now but they'll see diminishing returns, much like what happened when Ruland was the coach. I wouldn't say it's working for Iona. They have yet to win an. NCAA tournament game, and they couldn't even win the MAAC tournament this yr. I'll stick with the 4 yr guys out if HS or Prep. Once you get good (program wins wise) then recruits will want to come (compared to the other schools in your conference be it the MAAC or A10).

Iona has a real knack for identifying blemished talent and getting the best out of it.
That's different than the kind of juco recruiting that the big boys do.
And the kind of juco recruits that are trying to join the big boys won't then settle for a MAAC team if they don't have to.
So if Siena did get called up to a bigger league, I wouldn't be surprised if the program's appeal in recruiting circles changes in a lot of ways.
In other words, that problem may sort itself out.

My fear is continually trying to reload with Freshmen while others are recruiting 21-24 year olds. This will pay off in the long run. All these transfers the maac has and the only team that has won NCAA games over the past few years is still siena. It's really hard to find 21-24 year olds to recruit without selling your soul (and school reputation) to the devil a bit. For mid-majors, you don't win NCAA games on talent alone, you need to play really well together and have some sort of synergy. It's really hard to build chemistry with roster turnover every year.

Pastos has clearly stated he does not like jucos. Transfers fine, has mot elaborated in that decision but has alluded to the school policy.
No reason for Siena mot to get some of these transfers with venue it plays in, fan base, education standards, and now coach. Believe most of challenges regarding such has been the coaching, some the actually coaching but time frame they would be at Siena. Transfers want some type of continuity.
