Dead on Indian, dead on. The school does not exist to benefit the men's basketball program, the men's basketball program exists to benefit the students and the school. Fans, alumni or not (I am a "not") are buying entertainment and should feel free to spend as they wish. My own take, the MAAC has enough pieces to be a relevant conference (size 12 or less). Gonzaga plays in the WCC with St Mary's and BYU and some other teams, but some of you would practically sell a child to have them come play in the TUC. Iona will continue to be good, ditto the Jaspers. Siena should resurect (reminder, never have gone beyond a first round NCAA win in their best days, hardly makes them "too cool for school" in the MAAC), Q will only get better in the MAAC. Fairfield has the tools to be more than they have been and Marist is headed in the right direction, they'll keep getting better. That could be a pretty good top half of the league. There will always be the St Peter's in the MAAC just as there will always be Fordham in the A-10. A watered down A-10 is less appealing to me than a beefed up MAAC. The good teams have fled or are fleeing the A-10, what is to gain? "Don't get mad, get better"

If A-10 invites Siena they're going. Count on it. If they don't call we'll obviously stay put. Do not read too much into this title. You are the kind of fan who made the Presidents want to take the tourney from Albany. Keep up this talk and it will be taken away again. Be respectful of the edge you have been given. I understand your fan base is the biggest and most supportive in the MAAC, but if you dare ever disregard the advantages you have in the MAAC, the door can be closed fast. It's a fact. "If" the A10 comes calling (that's a big IF) the school has no choice but to accept the offer regardless if it's ready in all its sports - for the simple reason that if Siena says: "No thank you at this time" the A10 may never come calling again. That's why they accept it IF asked. I'm not saying they'll ask us any time soon, but if they do Siena will have to accept (if they ever want to move up). How does that statement sound bad/negative in your opinion?

I would agree with you except for the fact that Fairfield hasn't done anything since Buonaguro (yikes!), Quinny has never even been to an NCAA tournament, Marist just lost to the last place team in the league in the PIG (clearly not getting better). A "watered" down A10 is still on national tv about 75 more times than the MAAC. In short, I guess I don't agree with you.

What kind of threat is that? Go ahead and take it away again. You think that hurts Siena or the MAAC more? The MAAC needs the tourney at the TUC more than Siena does - which is why the MAAC came groveling back into Siena's arms. Siena is the only host that can make the MAAC tourney respectably attended and profitable. You know it, Siena knows it, and the MAAC knows it. Siena has the MAAC right where it wants it - which is why D'Arg is the new basketball committee boss. You would do well to remember that. Yankee, to add to Sienafan's comment: not only can the TUC make a profit, but after these last 3 yrs do you believe Springfield will continue to bid for this tournament? If they do, they obviously won't bid very high since they lost money the MA tax payers had to help fund for a non MA event. Why do you think Trenton & Buffalo no longer bid? They lost money. It seems only Bridgeport & Albany can make money on this event. The MAAC always makes it's money because it's guaranteed only the venues. & Cities loose money.

It would be P.R. nightmare for Siena if they said " NO" to the A10! ESPECIALLY with all the spending for the new athletic facility! That being said.. I full expect Siena to be in the A10 within the next 2 or 3 years!

you have the MAAC tourney at your home court for the next 3 years. Patsos can tell recruits this. Your AD is now the head of the committee and you dare complain? Honestly, HOW DARE YOU, any of you guys wondering or complaining, HOW DARE YOU? You are now set up to dominate for the next decade and you complain about maybe now not getting into the A-10 because these "signals" look bad? HOW DARE YOU? Who's complaining? We do our thing in the MAAC and then leave when the invite comes. Then we will be in a better conference, in the bottom half, struggling to get better. These are the traits of a good program. We have had our set backs, but if we keep trying, we will hit that high note and hopefully put this program on a higher level. New fans will come out of the woodwork and I wouldn't be surprised to have average crowds of 10k in the TUC. Don't be a hater. I'm happy for the Griffs. Enjoy the run. I hope Baron has a great day and a shot at the NBA. He seems like a good kid. I thought Yankee is a Marist fan?

I wasn't aware that the schools receive any money from the MAAC tournament.

Please--- the maac took the tourney away from the only place that cared and that's when Siena upped the rhetoric about leaving. The Presidents folded like a house of cards and now it is back where it belongs. Close the door on Albany, and you can go ahead and close the door on the MAAC being a mid major conference.

To add to this - close the door on Albany (or if & when Siena leaves) I can foresee the MAAC becoming like the AE where they rotate from campus to campus their tournament.

We the fans who care aboyt Siena basketball have to put on a full court press on the Siena ADM to push for an invite to the A-10.
The decision to hire Mitch was unmitigated disaster. The descision to hire Jimmy and now buld a practice facility can make up for that fiasco.
My concern is that the MAAC is now trying to court Siena to stay in teh Leauge. Let's not let that happen.

Again- it would be P.R. nightmare. Especially if Siena said " no " ..and A10 took Iona! Try selling that to the fan base!

you guys have to relax- we are coming off 4 straight losing seasons- the A10 currently has no openings- how about we concentrate on winning the MAAC next year- if we get "our act" together the rest will take care of itself

I'm not sure they'll ask soon, but if they do Siena will go (ready or not).

How many times do I have to tell you that no school needs the money from the tourney? So arrogant. Ignorant post- most MAAC teams throw nickels around like Manhole covers- if Siena ever leaves the conference the days of all in MAAC tournament are over- book that. Other MAAC teams do not have fan interest to justify it- like the NEC it will be home of highest seed Spot on Tony....
