Let's see where the board thinks the team is after 12 games headed into the Christmas break. The ever eternal optimist I am had the team at 5-7 after 12 games and we are only one game below that. But looking at it realistically with the schedule, being on the road forever, playing a ton of frosh etc it is a pretty good accomplishment we are at 4-8 all things considering. A skeptic could point out we could be 2-10 if the ball doesn't bounce right in the St. Bonaventure/Cornell games but on the other side of the coin a few games got away from us (Purdue in Orlando) that probably are wins later in the year and we could just as easily be at .500 right now.
I think we are right on track for the 14-16 win range. We definitely need to get JO healthy. But the team is continuing to improve from game to game. Last night's win wasn't a thing of beauty but the key to getting back on track as a program is to find ways to win when you aren't at your best.

I would not be surprised if they pulled off 17 wins! BELIEVE IN JIMMY!

Record-wise they are right where I thought they would be, talent level though they are well above. I saw finishing 6th or 7th in the MAAC as being an achievement going into the year, now I think this team should be competing for 3rd.

Although popular opinion on this board says 3pt shooting is the most glaring weakness of this team (and it is a weakness for sure), I think guard defense is the main thing holding this team back and the key to its success over the balance of this year.
They're ahead of schedule from my view thru 12 games but could/will be even farther along if they can figure out how to keep guards in front of them.

The next 4 games are all winnable games. Now if Siena can manage to win those games- then they can go into the Iona game with some confidence. And that game is at home!

The key word being, where we "hoped" they would be. I was hoping for this high level , I don't think anyone could be disappointed with the talent of our freshmen. We knew with the age of our team that there would be growing pain but " WOW!!" Jimmy Claus has given us a Merry Christmas with the five presents he has brought to us this year. Merry Christmas everyone! Go Saints!
