I didn't read it that way Bill- I read it the team will be traveling to Montreal and Siena maybe adding one more player. But hey maybe you're right- just my take
"The team, which may sadd one more player — Bishop Maginn grad Taran Buie — will be traveling to Montreal August 23-29."

I thought the most telling part of the article was the reference to no seniors and three juniors. Is Hopper gone?

Aren't the juniors Silas, Hymes, and Hopper. and Poole--so either its a mistake or 1 of them are gone-- although all 4 are listed on roster

Buie accompanying the team to Montreal is interesting and telling. Buie is not going to Montreal. He is not even enrolled in the school. You read that incorrectly. This is basic writing 101. The wording inside the hyphens is an aside used for further explanation of what comes after the comma and is not part of the original thought in the sentence. Everything after the second hyphen is a continuation of the sentence after the words "the team" and is not part of the thought within the hyphens. You would not have had this confusion had the writer put the aside in parenthesis, which is really the proper way to do it.

Thanks for the English grammar lesson, but White and Shrunk aside, I'll attribute my misreading to it being too early in the morning for me to comprehend anything, even pristine rhetoric. ;-)
