Mr. Siena had an interesting post earlier today about how he had gone to see the Saints play in 16 different states. I thought it might be fun for people to list their states and favorite games. List foreign countries if you saw the Saints play there. I'll start with my own modest list:
New York -Colgate-- Heckled all game, deep reserve freshman James Clinton comes off the bench in the final minutes and throws down a monstrous dunk
Washington DC -- George Washington-- Outmanned, the Saints and Prosper Karangwa have one of their best games of the season-- The concern on the locals faces as it became evident their team was going to lose to Siena for the second year in a row was priceless-- Tom Penders ejected.
Florida-- Vanderbilt-- Tay Fisher 6-6, on his sixth one I screamed so loud the man in front called security on me.
Ohio -- Ohio State -- Onions Double order-- on the big screen for a few seconds a few times
Vermont-- Vermont-- Saints break the Catamounts home winning streak
Connecticut-- Fairfield-- Happened to be at same hotel as team-- could tell at breakfast team was going to crush the Stags.

Massachusetts- Watched the coach formerly known as the program wreckers 1st win over Northeastern Watched Ubiles, Moore Franklin etc. lose as freshmen in a game at Holy Cross and no that wasn’t the game Fran didn’t shake hands that was next trip out , Watched Siena lose to BC in a NIT game, where Jeff Robinson broke his jaw in practice and couldn’t play Connecticut – several games at Fairfield – the most memorable – 2009 I think When Siena got out to a 26-4 lead..and believe it or not game wasn’t as close as that lopsided score indicates Pennsylvania – watched Siena get upset by St John’s ( at the world famous Palestra) in a game the ref’s let st Johns grab hold and clutch Eddie and Clarence Jackson the entire game disappointing loss really
Rhode Island – Watch a rob Lanier team lose to Friars - small crowd and took the automatic upgrade into some PC season ticket holders court side seat Vermont- watch several Mike Deane teams go up and kick the shit out of Vermont every year Florida- watched Siena absolutely dominate Vandy
Those are just a few off the top of my head .. went to UNH once, Hartford, BU.. never made the trek up to Maine

My favorites are--
*1979, Siena at BU, Pitino their coach. Don't remember much about the game but remember the local girls at the pub afterwards.
*1994 (?), NIT at MSG, loss against Kerry Kittles & Villanova
*1999 (?), Buffalo, Siena wins its first MAAC championship and local security chase (with nightsticks) the students off the court.

Sitting in my car, having left a party to listen to the radio alone so I wouldn't be distracted, listening to Richie Smith lead DII Indians to upset of Bill Rafferty's Seton Hall. And at Scarsdale, watching Timmy SIse kick Jeff Ruland's behind, at least for three quarters in front of a very hostile crowd

Well the first Siena game I saw in person was when I came for an incoming freshmen weekend in 2010, and we went to the Siena vs Manhattan MAAC Quaterfinals. I was so pumped after seeing the team come back after halftime and take the win, and it solidified my decision to come to Siena.
The best I've seen had to be last years midnight thriller against Manhattan in Springfield. Time seemed to stop as the ball rolled and rolled around the rim, until it finally dropped out.

Although it was not a win, a very memorable game I attended was at Syracuse during my freshman year. It was the last year of the Manley Fieldhouse, before the move to the dome, and the 'cuse had been having some problems with attendance at their "patsy" games. We had lost to them the prior year 144-92, so Syracuse chose our game as a "rivalry" game, because they were "angry" we had scored 92 on them. They came up with a number of gimmicks for the game, including t-shirts, bandanas, etc that said "Beat Siena", and created the "Siena sway" behind the baskets when we shout foul shots, rather than the crazy hand waving. In our "favor", the Syracuse mayor at the time, a Siena grad, was going to have the Orange stars (Rosie Bouie, Louie Orr, Marty Headd, etc) detained on some made up charges just before game time. Some Siena students actually went out to Syracuse a few days prior and spray painted a statue on their campus green and gold. So a few guys from my dorm hall, one from Syracuse, decided at the last minute, to drive out, hoping to get tickets, and watch the game. Tickets were not a problem. We had beverages on the way (of course), and had a ridiculously great time. People there gave us their bandanas, and other souvenirs. We laughed when the Orange failed to score 100 points, with everyone chanting "We want fries", denying all of them free fries at some local burger joint if the "cuse scored 100 pts. They scored 99 that night, we scored 63...but the five of us went bananas when Rod Owens somehow managed to dunk OVER Roosevelt Bouie at one point in the game (never saw him dunk at any other time). After the game, we hit some Syracuse bars and enjoyed ourselves with many Syracuse students. Great memories!!!

The 1999 MAAC championship win, which I forgot to include in my list, was followed by a couple of hours at the Buffalo Police Department headquarters as I and the College's then Board of Trustees President worked to obtain the release (without spending the night in jail) of five Siena students who were arrested for storming the court after the game. We were successful and the charges were all disposed of without any criminal records. As it turned out, only four of the five were Siena students. I guess the fifth had a "get out of jail free card" so to speak.

I remember that! Good times. Thankfully I was just a tad too old to court storm.
