Unless the Saints can contain Brown’s Keno Lilly Jr., a first-team preseason Ivy League selection, it could be a long night for the Saints. They also have two other starters from last year’s team, which came within one point of making it to the NCAA tournament.

I don't know much about Brown but Siena should have beaten them last year on the road. It was a total choke job. Should be an interesting season opener let's hope we can start well!!

They made it to the league championship game and return 4 starters. They don’t have to worry about kids bailing for NIL $’s when the degree from Brown will be worth several times what they can get in NIL. With that continuity and experience I expect it to be a tough game to open the season.

Lilly is a great guard. Brown will go small. Brown was picked 3rd or 4th in the lvy in most preseason polls. No idea what to expect honestly. Hopefully we have a chance to win late in the game.

Look forward to this game and the start of Coach GMAC's HC career. Going to temper expectactions, but certainly looking forward over the course of this season to significant improvement over last year's team and Carm's tenure. I have been very impressed with Gerry since his hiring. No doubt a major upgrade.
Go Saints!

I have been very impressed with Gerry since his hiring. No doubt a major upgrade. Go Saints! McNamara has been impressive since his hiring, interpersonal relations and even recruiting are fine but until the results translate to wins on the court we won't know. Certainly, there will likely be improvement. There is no place to go but up from last season. I'm optimistic given the preseason "performance" and looking forward to the season to see what Siena has going forward. To date, Niagara hasn't had significant success with Paulus, who like McNamara came in with much hype and like McNamara says the right things and is great interpersonally. I am hoping for the best on the court. Siena has much more going for it than Niagara (sad to say for a Niagara) so maybe McNamara can get things done at Siena. Of course, I still hoping Paulus does well at Niagara. I'd like to see Siena and Niagara at the top of the MAAC. A win/win for me.

This season all I want to see is a competitive team on the court … w more upset wins than disappointing losses … anything else would be gravy
Go Saints!

Brown opens as 2.5 favorite o/u 137.5. I'm taking over From what I saw in that exhibition game against Hobart I think it’s going to be a long year. I didn’t see a lot of athleticism and I didn’t see these shooters folks have been talking about. I didn’t see a high caliber recruit like a McCollum or a Pickett either.

Can't disagree with the assessment of the three point shooting. I hope that abysmal display against Hobart was an anomaly and not the norm. If it is the norm, which I don't believe it is, it would be a long season. I would hope that the pick and roll would be incorporated in the offense as well along with the high post entry pass. Both of which would be facilitated by hitting some threes.

With all due respect, I think this opinion is with a whole lot of 20/20 hindsight. JM was an unknown and people were wondering how a 150 pound guard (when wet) would perform, and to my recollection we were JP’s only D1 offer, primarily because he was a back to the basket player that hadn’t yet shown his Pickett n’ roll abilities. I haven’t been this excited about a season since I can’t remember when. I’m optimistic not only because of GMac and the composition of the team, but I really think GMac’s coaching staff is going to be a major factor both this year and in the future.

Hmmm, I don’t think I saw anyone saying this was going to be a high level shooting team. But, one game does not tell the story, let them get a couple games under their belt before you throw the towel in on this years model and their ability to shoot the ball. Pretty sure that we'll see the rotation shrink to 8/9 guys and the guys who can shoot at a good clip taking the majority of the outside shots. (My guess is that will be Ducharme, Freeman, Coyle as the primary shooters. I don’t think Jackson or Shoals are known as shooters, so you hope they’ll pick their spots. The kid who didn’t play, Doty, is supposed to be a scorer, but I don’t think he is necessarily a 3 point shooter). We’ll see.
I will disagree on the athleticism. Freeman, Shoals, Jackson are all athletic guards. Ducharme and Coyle are both sneaky athletic. The fresh from LI and the transfer from Xavier/Hofstra are both plus athletes as interior players. And there are two 6’11 guys in the post to protect the rim plus Ojo. This team may not have a star, though Freeman is highly rated, Ducharme was a top 125 recruit out of prep school and Gmac sure seems to love Shoals, a quick scoring point guard. Looks to me like a well put together roster, as long as injuries aren’t an issue.
My top 8/9 based on what little I’ve seen and or heard:
Freeman Shoals Ducharme Coyle Carey Wilmouth Jackson Jones Ojo/Doty being the extra big or wing as needed.
I don’t know how good this team will end up being, but I think they’ll be fun to watch as they’ll put some points on the board, play hard and compete.
Agree on the over, too many new pieces to feel confident on the point spread yet. But, as a fan, I’ll have a couple shekels on the Saints to win straight up.

There's a reason we were picked 9th in the MAAC. We really needed the kid from FDU. He was a surefire 1st team kid, and probably MAAC POY favorite along with Quinnys Tice. Not replacing that verbal with another 5th year veteran forward has concerned me all summer. I'll obviously keep an open mind and hopefuly watch these kids grow, and even stay around a couple of years. Just play hard and smart. Keep yourself in games so we dont have to hit the exis early.
