In major change, college athletes set to be paid directly by schools
. The NCAA and major conferences agreed to a settlement that would establish a revenue-sharing model for athletes beginning in the fall of 2025, though many steps remain to finalize the arrangement. Most likely next logical step is splitting up Div I programs and possibly tourneys- March Madness & NIT Thoughts?? Won’t happen. They’re greedy but not stupid. I can see D1 reorganized by ability to generate revenue. Baker the NCAA President proposed something like that prior to the settlement. I doubt the idea is dead. Like MTS, I cannot envision two tournaments. Doing so takes the “madness” out of March. What’s left for the casual fan if that is gone?

Time for two divisions for basketball. It works for football and makes sense. The talent gap with split divisions will level the playing field and interest from fans from lower schools will remain the same. They will have a chance at a national championship with equal teams not the ass kicking from a blue blood in a 1 vs 16 match up in the NCAA.

Yeh, but what about UMBC, St. Peter's and FDU and their success versus the big boys? Such upsets gone forever/ On top of it the NCAA will now be penalizing the MAAC for the Peacocks' success.

If they weren't paying them I say yes, but it's time for a change it's either split now or be left in the dust and go D2 or 3.
