I agree, NIL and gambling are the death of sports in slow motion They'll continue to exist of course, but once you start enticing viewers who don't care for the actual outcome you've already lost the plot Yesterday, when an 82% FT shooter at crunch time misses his two free throws I start to think point shaving or even game throwing. Student -athletes wouldn't do either Right?

Last two days were not good for college basketball at all. Poor scheduling, a ton of blowouts, and we are left with NC State playing the role of Cinderella. This will be the earliest I'm checked out of the NCAA Tournament since I was in elementary school. Woops ur right…Clemson beat a 3 seed

I read an article this week about how some of the pro sports leagues (I can't remember if it was NHL / NBA / MLB) want states to ban "prop" bets on individuals. Those are like: Will LeBron James have over or under 25 points, etc. I never thought about the possibility of corruption with those, but how easy would it be for an individual to make sure their prop bet landed one way or the other?
This stuff is messy, and may have many many unintended consequences on the sports we love, or at least used to love, to watch.

I thought that was for the ncaa which I am completely in favor of although I have one to enjoy wagering on the actual games.

Woops ur right…Clemson beat a 3 seed While, I'm in general agreement with the point of this topic, I greatly enjoyed NC State continuing the Cinderella role today in beating the Dukies. Even the refs enforcing the never used out of the coaching box rule in an attempt to help Duke rally didn't work. As a bonus I really loved watching D J Burns a huge guy with the softest shooting touch I have ever seen. Great fun .

STOP.............any school coming from a power league is not and should never be considered a Cinderella, ever..............ok, so they didn't have a great regular season perhaps, but they have way more NIL available advantage in the general landscape compared to the mid/low majors as only those on the lower end of the spectrum would ever be the real Cinderella's, and getting them much deeper in the tournament beyond 2 games is going to a huge monumental task going forward, imho............

Scott said NC State was playing the role of Cinderella by default. No real "Cinderellas" left. It doesn't effect my fun in seeing the Dukies get eliminated or the surprise of seeing a huge player with a soft shooting touch. What is the alternative? Stop watching basketball altogether?

It’s just not under the table now. Same with paying players. It’s almost like people liked it better when we pretended it didn’t happen.
