After Fran, look at our hires! Mitch, Patsos, Christian and Carm. Why would anyone believe that the administration would hire the right guy now? Get knowledgeable basketball people to do the interviews including a few former players. But unfortunately nothing will happen until at least a year from now. If Carm can’t be fired let’s get some good assistants but we’ll need to pay them more than we pay our current assistants.

Will Brown finished with a record of 315-295, .516 W-L% at UAlbany. His last 3 years were all losing seasons: .375, .438, .438. As I said previously on here, his best days of coaching men's D1 college basketball are behind him. He is not the answer to turning around Siena men's basketball. I want to see the next hire who comes in with a string of winning seasons not losing ones. And please don't tell me he won coaching the Patroons and a St. Rose with their women's team. Time to bring in some fresh and talented coaching blood to Loudonville. Nobody said he won at his last two coaching stops. He won Coach of the Year at both spots. May not mean much to you, but it shows me he can coach at any level. D-1, professional and even women. Hopefully we get another guy that made the NCAA tourney 5x. Again, he's the best choice because of the $800K boulder hanging over our head. I know it'd be a real longshot, but if its not him, its Carm next year, 100%. Enjoy

Of course everyone wants the next coach to have a successful background, pegged as an up and comer & selected from a carefully planned search. However the reality of the situation allows for 3 options; 1. You believe Siena is going to eat $800k and conduct a legitimate thorough search for a replacement. 2. You believe Siena rolls with Carm because their hands are financially tied. 3. You believe a change is needed and someone like Will Brown is a better option than doing nothing given Siena’s financial constraints & declining fan support. IMO number 1 isn’t very realistic, number 2 is highly likely but has consequences given that fan support has dwindled to almost nothing and number 3 offers a viable option if you believe someone like Will can bring energy to a faltering program, can rejuvenate fan support in the short term, is a better X’s and O’s coach, is a good enough recruiter to compete in a down MAAC & can possibly negate some of Carm’s financial baggage. I’m all ears if you see it differently but that $800k is one giant albatross!

I’m guessing Fee will be targeted by Detroit Mercy. He walked on there for a few years and was also a GA there. If Canisius opens I could see them looking at Fee also.

Good option but he likely won’t work for a minimum payday either….folks aren’t being realistic about how DArg tied our hands with Carm’s contract extension.

We need Carm’s final 2 years out of the way & DArg out of the picture before we can afford to conduct a legitimate search. Unless benefactor’s step up with a pile of cash I don’t see how we get out of this mess. It’s a nasty business, Siena missed their opportunity when Carm took a poke at Tekin. These guys had NP going after Patsos for cause…. Carm’s misstep was committed in front of a building full of fans. Unfortunately he was let off the hook. Not necessarily, doubt theres a statute of limitations on carm smacking Tekin.

What I disagree with you on is that Will Brown would be the only and best choice for option 3. Someone like Will Brown fine, just not Brown for the reasons I have previously offered.

Enjoy I would love to see Will coach next year with Ely, Sean, and Gio along with a couple good transfer guards. We would be competing in top half of league and his third consecutive coach of the year.

I don't see D'Arg hiring Brown. So the question is does Siena fire Carm and D'Arg and then hire Brown with the former St. Rose AD at the helm. No one at Siena cares what D’Arg wants. He’s there to do what the admin tells him to do.

I would be all-in with Jordan Fee from Gannon! Load up at 3rd year,he looks like an up and comer with D'arg completely out of the picture making decisions. GO SAINTS!!

Good coach & interesting prospect but he’s not coming here to paid in his 3rd year. He’ll likely get a decent offer from Detroit Mercy (his alma mater) who just canned their coach.

He’s there to do what the admin tells him to do. As vice president he is part of the administration. Feel free to substitute Admin for D'Arg.

You’re not following along with the rules oneindian has set. Either Carmen Maciarello or Will Brown will be the coach next season.

I really don’t have a dog in this fight and I don’t care either way. My only point is that Will is probably the only option because he’s already local, unemployed and Siena can’t afford to cover Carm’s salary and a new coach without having someone work for next to nothing for a couple of years. I just don’t think it’s realistic to think legitimate coaching candidates are lining up at our door to apply under those circumstances. So, pick your poison. Give Carm more time to work it out, and hope enough fans still support the program or bring in Will Brown and hope he can rejuvenate interest and compete. I guess either way you hold your nose when you make a choice. I don’t think anyone is happy about the position we’re in. The other bonus feature contributing to this dilemma is that nothing is going to change for the better while D'Argenio is Siena’s AD. He absolutely can not be involved in the hiring process when Siena finally does decide to make a serious move.
