Wonderful to see KU dissed out of the NCAA tourney, and now this delightful match-up.

I believe it is a similar situation to Illinois playing at Stony Brrok in the NIT in 2011 or 2012. It was a top seed but its home arena was not available, so the Illini were sent on the road.

that's why Siena should ALWAYS have a strong program & contend for post season play. the minor prize would be a home game with a bcs power similar to GTech in '94. We have the arena or the GF civic center

We have the arena or the GF civic center I agree with your statement on Siena should always have a strong program..........BUT the current format of the NIT is very much similar to that of the NCAA (in fact it is run by the NCAA, since they purchased the rights to it a few yrs ago).............seeding & selections typically go to power schools and they get the higher seedings along with the home court opportunities............schools that also get in are those that win their reg season title but are not selected as at-large bids when they fail to win their conf tourney (typically mid to low majors)..........Niagara, ended up being a 7 seed playing at Maryland a 2 seed................in the old NIT, Siena was in a better situation for hosting, since it was taken into consideration the dollars they would bring in by being a home team rather than a bcs type school that would not draw as well...................both Robert Morris and as KS noted Stony Brook lucked into situations because the higher seeded opponent was unable to host and they became beneficiaries of that situation.......still fun for them, since normally you would not expect the power schools to visit them in a normal schedule!!!!!!!

i here what you are saying, guess i should have stated, Siena needs to be in position to get 'lucky' for a post season home game against a power conference team.

The NIT committee should give the underdogs the home games. It would pretty much have sellouts at those venues, whereas if it was at the BCS schools their arenas would be half filled because of lack of interest from not making it into the Big Dance. I realize attendance would be a few thousand less but you would have a true basketball atmosphere. But then, we know this will never happen because the big boys want the mid-majors out of their playground.

the CBI is the least likely destination for many schools..............first, they make you PAY to host a game........then the final is actually a best 2 of 3 (just bizarre).................what I think my happen (IMHO), is that the NCAA tourney will eventually increase to 96 teams (adding another 32 onto the orig field of 64) and essentially the NIT goes bye bye............the CIT might stick around, because it is a 32 team event for strictly mid-majors, this year 4 MAAC teams are playing (Canisius, Loyola, Rider & Fairfield)!!!!!!!!!!

Tooles kids play real hard....so far I like what I'm seeing from his team. Taking it right to UK. Not intimitaded at all.
On the other hand Patsos' team is getting their ass kicked at home by BU right now.

Calapari will shore up his players and they will win. Way to go out on a limb. UK players looked lost going into the lockerroom and so did Calipari. They will have a hard time winning.
