It's the off season and I've got too much time on my hands waiting for the season to start.
Mike (MTS) probably has a count down calendar on his computer/phone app to the start of the Italy trip, official fall practice, first game, etc..
I was thinking about all the great players Siena played against, literally hundreds of "all time greats".
Here's just a few (some even played/were drafted in the NBA).
Great memories.
Please fill in the hundreds that I missed that you remember Siena playing against unperson, listening on the radio, etc..
Here in no particular order:
Kansas - The Morris Twins (Marcus (another ex-Celtic) and Markieff (granted they were freshmen/sophomores when Siena played them, I think).
Stanford - The Lopez twins (twice) Brook & Robin
Georgia Tech - Travis Best (Siena's 1st NIT victory that year on its way to the NIT Final Four); Derek Favors; Gani Lawal, etc..
Florida State - Sam Cassell and Heisman Winner Charlie Ward (although I'm not sure Ward suited up that game). Charlie the best pro football player the Knicks drafted.
Memphis - Derrick Rose, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Joey Dorsey, Robert Dozier, etc..
Pittsburgh - DeJaun Blair (This guy was a beast and I can't believe that called a foul on Kyle Downey defending him ).
Ohio State - Evan Turner
Louisville - Terrence Williams, Earl Clark, etc..
Butler - Gordon Hayward
How about Siena conference Foes:
Northeastern - Reggie Lewis (Yes, I'm a Celtics Fan )
St Peter's - Keydren (Kee-Kee) Clark
La Salle - Lionel Simmons, Randy (gunner) Woods, Doug Overton, etc..
Niagara - Juan Mendez, Tyrone Lewis, Antoine Mason, Charron (gunner) Fisher, Jeremiah Young, Chris Watson, Alvin Young, etc..
Iona - Jeff Ruland, Steve Burtt, Sr., Steve Burtt, Jr, Gary Springer, Tariq Kirksay, Kevin Bass, Glenn Vickers, Richie Simmonds, Mindaugas Timinskas, A.J. English, Sean Green (I'll never forget Green nor will Mike Dean ).
Army - Kevin Houston
Rider - Jason Thompson,
Monmouth - Justin Robinson
Fairfield - Derek Needham, Tyler Nelson, Deng Gai & Ajou Deng (both for defense)
Manhatten - Louis Flores, George Beamon, Keith Bullock, etc..
Canisius - Darrell Barley, Michael Meeks, Darren Fenn,
I'm missing hundreds but these came to mind w/o thinking too much. Great memories especially when Siena came out on top against them.
