By the way if this young man from Turkey is a real person. Who looks like Matt Brady. We may find he plays like him too. What a great second coming

I, for one, will support EVERY Siena recruit and welcome them to Siena - if they play 25 minutes a game and make a major contribution, or if they sit on the bench and contribute to the team by their attitude being positive and help as a practice player. Great article in Sports Illustrated last month about Coach K - how he pays as much attention to a walk on as he does to an All American and that he has the unique ability to find a place for everyone on Duke's team. You had me until the Coach K part, then I barfed all over my floor. Sorry about that, Scott.

Is Tekin in the country yet - does anyone know? This kid should be playing pick-up with the other guys on the team ASAP to jump start his acclimation to American basketball (as well as to give Carm a better gauge as to whether he can be counted on or whether we need another PG/CG).

vimeo.com/603862796Not sure the level of competition but looks to be active on both offense and defense. Didn’t see a lot of outside shooting though. I don’t know the level of competition this young man faced but it appears from the videos is all he can do is attach and finish. Not sure he’s going to fit in with our style. 🤪

I’d rather have taken a crack at a US player like Sam Kodi if we were going to go with a younger PG, or an older PG from the portal much less risky than Tekin who has zero exposure to the US game as far as -> speed, athleticism and size goes.

I don't think you have to worry. It appears backing up the point is covered with Eley if Tekin doesn't work out. Dude appears to have a real nice handle in the footage I've seen.

So did Darwiche on vid 🧐 like I said there were a lot more less risky options out there. I can’t get overly excited watching Tekin’s video.

Eley is shown doing it against well-known competition going to high majors. There's risk in any recruit. Iona just had a supposedly 4 star recruit who was a bust and transferred out. I don't know who you think is available that's a sure thing. But in Eley and Coyne, I think they just got two guys who can really contribute right away.

Coyne isn’t a PG, Eley is a SG who can cover the pg spot in a pinch (possibly). If McCollum goes down we’re in a heap of $hit, especially if Gaines isn’t playing. Tekin was a wasted scholarship. You don’t think there were better options in the portal, prep or HS without having to go to Turkey? I would have takin’ (no pun intended) the kid I mentioned above before going international.

I identified Eley as the player who looks like he has the handle to run point. You have no objective basis for declaring Tekin a wasted scholarship - you have yet to see him play for Siena. I trust Carm had his reasons for taking Tekin over other options. If he turns out to be wrong, I will be critical of the choice. But I'm not going to prejudge the kid without knowing more.

The conversation is PG & Tekin’s ability… you brought up Coyle, you’re all over the map. Let’s revisit this if McCollum goes down and see where we are. I read this board a lot & it’s the same old story same old song & dance every off season. Just because Carm brought in Tekin means zip, he also brought us Tertsea.😉 I’ll go out on a limb and say my assessment of the international kid isn’t that far off… if it is I’ll stand corrected! As far as Eley, maybe he can handle the point, maybe not. I have more confidence in his ability based on his last prep stop but that’s still nothing definitive. It really remains to be seen if he’s an effective option or not. I’ll stand by my original assertion, if something happens to McCollum we don’t have the guns/depth at the point to overcome.

Funny, not sure a recruit who didn’t pan out from one European country means all recruits from all foreign countries are bad.
Just my 2 cents.

How many successful NCAA D1 players from Turkey out of nearly 4500 players? Again not hard to fathom better options were available in the portal HS & prep! Three hundred and fifty coaches utilize the portal but in ‘22 Carm thinks portal kids are high maintenance! SMH!

The video posted states that it is three years old. The kid was 15 or 16 in that video. Not bad for a kid playing with older players from the looks of it. Like all freshmen, we will have to see. McCollum panned out so maybe Carm is a good judge of talent. Tertsea aside. He has brought in plenty of good talent so far. Still two more to go and we all know what is needed. Let's see how that plays out.
