What about the local kid from st rose?...he had a big year...
Mansfield, M.A. (NEWS10) – Freshman forward Shane O’Dell (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Year and a second-team All-Conference pick. The voting was conducted by the league’s 14 head coaches.
O’Dell has been chosen the NE10 Rookie of Week five times this season. He is currently fourth among the conference’s leaders with a 19.8 scoring average and ninth with 7.0 rebounds per game, and stands fourth behind a 1.2 blocks average. O’Dell has finished in twin-figures scoring throughout 22 of the Golden Knights (14-11) 25 games, and has recorded six “double-doubles” this season.

Thought Carm already took a pass on him. Looks like he could be a good piece to a rebuilt line up. Plus, he's a local guy. Remember Corey Osinski? Terrific player.

Also, didn't we see him in the exhibition? Looked solid for a freshman.

I wouldn’t object as a replacement for Baer down the road, but right now we have limited spots and desperately need a talented 4/5 with athleticism - strength inside & another player to help McCollum. A 6 6 210# O Dell satisfies neither of those roles.
Not sure ODell would even be interested, he’s getting a lot of mpg and taking a $hit ton of shots @ SR. He’d get substantially less of both at Siena.

To play devils advocate here….while I 100% agree that the new rules make it tougher for mid major fans like us, don’t these rules make things more fair for most? Coaches can leave for a new school without having to sit out a year. Professors can leave for a new school without having to sit out a year. Students can transfer without having to sit out a year. I can leave my job for what I think might be a better opportunity without having to sit out. Why should we hold college athletes prisoners differently than everyone else??? Let’s face it, in the major sports (football and basketball), colleges are pretty much a farm system for the pros. Of course this is far from 100% but for most D1 college players, this is just the minor leagues. Why should the institutions profit from NIL but not the actual athlete??? Unfortunately, DI college athletics in the major sports are a business. These athletes bring in a lot of money for their institutions, shoe companies, etc. Why shouldn’t the athletes be able to profit??? Bottom line, I get that the new rules hurts fans of a mid major team like Siena but I bet that all the athletes like the rules and to be honest, I think the new rules probably are not only more fair and just, but also a truer representation of what college athletics at the top level is really about…..$$$. Agree 100% But I really don't think this Transfer Portal business is good for the kids. For every "star" mid-major player who transfers to UNC and goes on to get his money and shine on the national spotlight, there are 10 who struggle with this situation. The "one size fits all" rule is really the problem, but I don't necessarily see a way around it. Yes, the kids should be treated fairly...but as you said, at this level for every Jalen Pickett that transfers, there is a (not to pick on him at all, just a totally random example) Donald Carey. I really don't think it's good for the vast majority to have the responsibility to have to decide after every year "should I stay or should I go". That's a heavy burden. I say, you make your choice and live with it. If it doesn't work out, you can always leave, but you must sit out a year, so that factors into your decision and keeps the shenanigans to a minimum. This shit is Pandora's Box, and ultimately it's not good for these kids. Think of all the scum bag coaches out there who are "recruiting" MAAC players. It's disgusting. It's very much like Predator / prey. Carey is bad example for what you're trying to say. So would Jordan King. All 3 kids excelled at their respective schools. Im not a fan of all this transferring being allowed. While it may be good for the kid, its horrible for the fanbases.

You're not helping your case. 15 minutes a game is the very definition of a bench player. If he was happy with that he wouldn't have transferred. A MAAC school isn't going to get a high-major starter as a transfer - they transfer to other high-majors. Our realistic targets in the portal are mid-major studs who are faced with coaching change, dissatisfied with playing time, or in crappy programs (Carey, Stormo, Rogers) and high-major role players looking for a featured role at a lower level (Platek, Gaines, Burns, etc.). As a whole, Siena has done well in the portal. They've had some bombs (Tertsea, Hein, Ratliff), but they've also gotten a bunch of notable starter caliber players out of it. They've also gotten some decent role players out of it - I'd put Baer and Kellier in that category. No one is getting a class of nothing but all league starters in the transfer portal. We got two in the last class. And I'd argue that head-to-head, Stormo has been as good as any big man in the league - he just isn't rewarded for it. That's fantastic results with the portal. We'll duh, and that's the point, which you expertly made for me, thanks. If Siena wants to get to the top 100, they can't rely on high major transfers. No need to debate, just look at the results so far. Time to do something different, because clearly what has been done so far hasn't worked out. You do realize that Iona was in the top 100 this season with a starting backcourt of transfers from Tulsa and SMU, right?

Tice just got an offer from Drexel Another HS/prep kid from the City Rocks we've moved on from. Frustrating They've been on Tice since last summer and he took his official visit to Siena in September. If he was interested he would have committed by now. I'd say it's more likely he's moved on from Siena. Dude wants to go higher.

Tice is still interested in Siena, Siena has backed away. My guess is because he didn’t commit right away, and Carm gets bothered by that. But if Siena got back in the ring, they would be in the mix. It is very attractive to his family for him to play within travel distance of them.

Just because she says no the first time, doesnt mean you stop trying to take her out. These kids like to get courted. Feel wanted. IF he's a top priority recruit, which I think he should be, we need to keep in touch throughout the season, and press more during live periods. Something tells me the "bigger school" thing hasnt worked out like he thought it would. This kid checks every box in what we need right now. And i cant express it enough that improving our relationship with the City Rocks, by taking their kids, is imperative for long term recruiting success.

Carm has been very clear that he only wants guys who want to be at Siena. If you were offered in summer 2021, visited in September 2021, and still haven't decided as of March 2022, then you aren't really interested. So I don't blame Carm if he's moved on.
Tice has 10 offers. Only one of them has come since last summer. This means the table has been set for him for some time. He's clearly holding out for a higher offer that probably isn't coming. 8 months have been expended recruiting this dude. How much longer would you guys wait before moving on knowing all this?
To HJ's example: I too will chase the pretty girl who says no the first time - to a point. But there comes a time when I take the hint, cut my losses, and move on to someone who actually wants to date me. The best advice I ever got was this:
You shouldn't have to convince someone to love you. That feeling is either there or it's not.

I saw Jim Hart at every single home game this season? What makes you think there is an issue with Carm's/Siena's relationship with the City Rocks?
