Congrats to SPU... one of the biggest upsets in MAAC history and maybe NCAA tournament history.
MAAC gets some much needed NCAA units money. First MAAC NCAA win since Siena beat Ohio State 13 years ago.
Siena beat SPU twice both pretty convincingly.
Imagine being Iona? SPU beat you to an NCAA win!!!!

Check out this gem from ESPN
John Calipari's salary ($8.5 million) is greater than the entire athletic budget of Saint Peter's ($7.5 million). Daryl Banks III (27 points) was an unrated prospect in high school who led his team to a victory over players who were four- and five-star recruits. It does not make sense. A team that couldn't beat Siena and Rider a month ago knocked off a Kentucky team that seemed to possess the talent to make a run to New Orleans

St. Peters 70, Murray State 60
Peacocks are the first MAAC mens team to reach the Sweet 16. Unreal.
Saint Peter's last loss was Siena.

We got mentioned in an ESPN Plus article re-ranking the Sweet 16 teams: On Feb. 20, Siena (255th on KenPom) hosted Saint Peter's and won 84-70. In that game, the Bulldogs connected on 58% of their shots inside the arc. How did that same Saint Peter's team reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history? Shaheen Holloway has spent the past few days highlighting his team's New York and New Jersey swagger and toughness. Sure, some of that is just coaching clichés. But the numbers tell a different story. This is not the same team that lost to Siena a month ago. Until that point in the season, the Peacocks' opponents had connected on 48% of their 2-point attempts (85th in the country, per Barttorvik.com). During their current 10-game winning streak -- extended by Saturday's victory against a Murray State squad that hadn't lost a game in more than three months -- the Peacocks have boasted America's top defense inside the 3-point line, with a 35.8% clip allowed. Kentucky (47.8% inside the arc) and Murray State (35.7%) both struggled to get shots that had otherwise fallen all season against an undersized Saint Peter's squad, which is on its way to the second weekend with a tangibly improved defense. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/33550946/reseeding-2022-men-march-madness-sweet-16

I know St' Peter's has won with tremendous defensive play but you would expect at some point a down game offensively. Truly amazing.
