www.timesunion.com/sports/article/Siena-UAlbany-men-s-basketball-rivalry-looking-16242682.phpI like how Killings stated in the article that he believes renewing the rivalry would be great for everybody involved and that playing for bragging rights of the city is huge. This is a refreshing change from Will Brown's stance. The game being played exclusively at the TUC was not a personal shot against him and his program. I think not having the game for the past 3 years shows both sides that there is room for compromise for everyone involved and that playing the game at SEFCU will work too because it beats not playing at all. We should all have access to ESPN3 and ESPN Plus at this point and can watch the game on TV if we can't get tickets to attend.

It's not that hard to understand. If you don't like it don't go. Watch on TV like yesterday.

It’s good for the community and local fan interest. The basketball atmosphere is great and the players want to play in front of a lot of fans. Let’s face it, even before covid, the crowds have been gradually shrinking at Siena home games. Regulars that I used to see, are no longer there. I’ve opted for espn+ on a few occasions myself. I usually go for an evening run after work at SUNY. Apparently, there was a game on Thursday, 1/6. The only reason I that is because the guy wanted to charge me for parking my car in the visitor lot near the basketball/tennis courts. The lot was completely empty. Completely.
I’m glad the series has renewed. Go Saints!

This is a good thing. It will generate interest from the casual fan in addition to the Siena and UA season ticket base. It provides visibility on TV to local fans to display the talent of both teams and can generate additional sales in the future. Nothing but positives. It also interests the student base and can potentially get them more involved in both programs for non-Albany Cup games.

I think it’s a great game if played at the mvp center with a 10k crowd. It’s does absolutely nothing when it is played at UA.
But what I can’t figure out is where these fans come from? They are not UA fans for the most part, so why do they come to this game but not the other Siena home games?

Albany Cup is an event, draws in casual basketball fans as well as people not even interested in the game but enjoy the atmosphere. Is just like Travers Day. Travers doesn't draw in 20,000 extra horse racing fans over the other weekends, it draws in 20,000 fans that want to be there for the event.

One other comment on next year's schedule. As I recall, we were initially scheduled for Vermont to be the home opener and then switched to Delaware because Vermont had the chance to play at Maryland thst night. It seems possible that Carm and Becker agreed to postpone the start of the series to 2022-23.
By the way, the rest of the Orlando field for 2022 is Florida State, Memphis, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Seton Hall and Stanford, per Jon Rothstein.

Would be quite easy to go 0-3 against that field but also no guaranteed losses like most years where there is top ten team so probably a rare year that 3-0 is in play.

Re: the Albany game.... Would it be possible for us to have a viewing party at the ARC for the SEFCU game? Or is there contractual issues? Wish we could put that in the contract. We would draw more than them.

Tickets went on sale for Season Ticket holders through ticketmaster account manger this morning. Seat selection wasn't that great.

I got a letter in the mail saying that presale starts on September 15 at 10 am...would be worth a call to the Siena Fan Relations office for clarification.
