I’ve watched a number of their games. Lundy is a poor decision maker who may be the most talented/athletic but he’s not a guy who will lead them to victories. Pickett started the season as the 3rd or 4th option and playing off the ball. Now he’s the primary ball handler and the kid from Who was starting at the one is barely getting off the bench. Pickett is getting exactly what he wanted, a chance to showcase himself against the best competition. Glad to see him doing well. What he wanted was to showcase himself against the best competition - to prove he's an NBA draft pick. He's accomplished the former, but not the latter so far. His shooting has not been so great at that level. 39.7% from 2 and 32% from 3 isn't getting him into the NBA. And those numbers are after only 4 Big 10 games so far. It’s not just about stats. He looks like he belongs on the court and is playing at a very high level right now. Looks like soph Pickett rather than Jr year Pickett.

Iirc he was averaging around 10-11 rebounds a game before hurting his hamstring while still doing everything else incredibly well

Since Thanksgiving he's averaging 38 min a game. Sounds like the coach thinks he's pretty valuable too.

He’s a player I wished hadn’t left (and I don’t care if that meant we don’t play faster). We’re showing how much we’re missing him. I’m sure we’ll be fine but could you imagine if we still had him this season? We’d probably only have a couple losses so far.

Just saw a note that JP is the only player in the Big 10 averaging over 18 points and 4.5 assists in conference games. Not to bad.

Can we please move the Pickett stuff elsewhere? We all appreciate what he did as a Saint and wish him well but at this point, I’m much more excited about Taelon Martin.

At 17 and 7 out west this season that would have been a nice addition but maybe he didn't want to be in OD's shadow or maybe he didn't want to share time with Stormo. They would have made a very good tandem in the MAAC if Carm chose to go with two bigs and three guards. But it didn't happen.

Taelon had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, including one in the last ten seconds that resulted in an insurance hoop, as 23rd ranked CSI handed 1st ranked Salt Lake Community College its first loss of the season, 74-70 yesterday.

On the EJ front I doubt he had any interest in us, don’t think we showed him much love during his initial recruitment. We really missed on that one.

We lost EJ when Jimmy Patsos prioritized Prince Oduro over him.
He showed us no love the second time around.
Plus, who can blame a kid for spending a year in the sun in SoCal? I know a few on this board who ditch the Albany winter weather too 😉
Glad he’s doing well.

Martin has a 6'10" teammate that is rated #29 in the JUCO Top 100 players in the class of 2022. Plays 20 min a game averages 10.6 and 6.5 and shoots 51% from the field, 38.6 from three and 72 % from the FT. I wonder if it could be a package deal in the making?

Chayce Polynice is the son of former NBA center Olden Polynice, who played pro for ~20 years, including a stint with the Utah Jazz.
