I don’t know how low to mid-major coaches can deal with it. This seems like the beginning of the end. No more getting the diamond in the rough - it’s just stolen from you as soon as it is polished.

Not sure why we took this kid. We already have Billups. There's no such thing as too much talent, especially in the world of D1 basketball today. We obviously need to recruit competent players at the 5. But, due to our recent history, let's continue to see positive results in recruiting good looking wings. Recruiting players that can play multiple positions is something Carm seems to be attempting to achieve. It looks like Martin is a great start. Wouldn't it be a nice change for us to have Wings with fresh legs subbing in next year with a rotation of 8-9 guys. Between Covid, injuries, transfers and lack of recruiting, it's getting old starting a season without a bench.

Not sure why we took this kid. We already have Billups. Ultimately, I think Carm wants a team of 4 Martins/Billups', with a big playing inside - and a bench consisting of another 5 guys like that. In which case, there's arguably plenty of room for Martin. And you can be sure the roster will be having some premature departures. Unfortunately, it's the new normal in today's D1. So might as well play the game and prepare for that.

I tell you, if you haven't punched up Martin's tapes showing his aggressive play going to the rim, please do! I'm so sick of watching our team passing and dribbling around the perimeter, going nowhere, run the clock down and throw up a prayer with two seconds or less on the clock! If Billups (and hopefully Martin) is the type of player that Carm is going to continue to recruit I'm all in. We will start to see large crowds of fans again! Winning solves a lot of problems doesn't it. How large will most likely be determined by Covid and restrictions obviously.

He’s been attacking the rim like crazy this year and unlike last year, he’s finishing most of the time. If that kid ever fixes his shot, he’ll be dangerous AF!

I would like to hear how the coaching staff has approached the subject with Carp. Or how much it has been addressed. Anyone have any knowledge on the subject?

He's not even the best player on his team - that would be Seth Lundy. But Jalen is doing well there and is certainly a Big 10 level starter - on a middling team like Penn State at least. On a team like Purdue, Ohio St. or Michigan St., he's likely a role player coming off the bench. If the goal is to get to the NBA, he'd better do something about his 32% shooting from 3.

I’ve watched a number of their games. Lundy is a poor decision maker who may be the most talented/athletic but he’s not a guy who will lead them to victories. Pickett started the season as the 3rd or 4th option and playing off the ball. Now he’s the primary ball handler and the kid from Who was starting at the one is barely getting off the bench. Pickett is getting exactly what he wanted, a chance to showcase himself against the best competition. Glad to see him doing well.

What he wanted was to showcase himself against the best competition - to prove he's an NBA draft pick. He's accomplished the former, but not the latter so far. His shooting has not been so great at that level. 39.7% from 2 and 32% from 3 isn't getting him into the NBA. And those numbers are after only 4 Big 10 games so far.

A lot of Jalen's success has to do with Micah Shrewsberry moving him on the ball where he belongs. He was really struggling off of it but went back to his old form as soon as he was put back on it, torched #3 Purdue for 21 and 10 assists today
