I hope you are right and I do trust Coach Carm. However, one of those "centers" is a guy who was mediocre (at best) at the Division 2 level and Baer, from what I have heard, is pretty much a walk-on even at the MAAC level. I did meet him, he's a very nice guy but he does not have a D1 frame for power forward, let alone center. Sure hoping I am not correct and will be pleasantly surprised, but I am not seeing strength at the center position. Go Saints! Our strength at the center position is Jackson Stormo, the guy who’ll play close to 30 minutes a game and is the best big in the league not named Nelly Junior Joseph. Maybe that happens but banking on a guy that has played more than 30 minutes exactly three times in his collegiate career to play 30 every night is a little scary. Not to mention even in that ideal situation there are still 10 minutes each game he is out.

I think Carm may have known Young was having issues since last season. Michael Tertsea may have been brought in for the express purpose of being insurance in case something like this happened. And I think he may be better than his past production suggests. Stormo and Burns before him didn't do anything previously either - we've seen twice in a row that sometimes bad numbers are a reflection of improper usage rather than lack of talent. Tertsea was a 3 star recruit out of high school. He had to have shown some sort of ability back then and not been a stiff his entire career to earn that rating. Now he may very well continue to be a stiff. But in my view, Carm has had a pretty good track record of turning apparent stiff centers into good contributors. So I'm willing to give Carm the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing and Tertsea will be ready to meaningfully contribute if Young doesn't pan out.

Need a competent back-up to Stormo. Young was that and now maybe he's gone. Too much turnover to ignore. Carm has to take responsibility as the guy in charge of the program.Hope it works out.

Watched every game last year and I think the Covid social distancing seating patterns did not serve Kyle well, or the team for that matter - it was very apparent that he had major continuing issues when pulled and sent to his second row end seat - several times he was up an roaming in the back out of sight of the coaches obviously agitated - Hammer and managers aren't going to be effective controllers in those situations, and shouldn't be - understood his frustrations, did not agree with his anger management while on and off the court but do think had he been required to sit on a normal bench his behaviors would have been noticed, curtailed and possibly addressed more effectively - loved the kid's passion but felt he was a ticking time bomb in a close physical game...

All these Kyle "issues" should have been observed and acted up on in June. Back when we could recruit a suitable replacement. Coming to light in September is another kick in the nuts like Tate and Harris pulling the quality depth rug out from under us.
Timing is everything.

We had a suitable replacement also named Kyle that got a free year of school and left the program without playing a single game and also cited mental issues as his reason for leaving. This is very far from ideal.

Seems to be lots of "issues" with players who were seeing playing time. Maybe it's nothing but the timing and the amount of guys leaving seems odd. Winning will make all forget about guys leaving the program.

We’ve had an awful lot of departures some untimely & to be fair I use to ding Patsos over the same issue. I get Covid and the new transfer options but this merits monitoring. I’m willing to give Carm pass for now but the last thing I want to see is a revolving door epidemic year in year out, especially when players are getting PT and when we’re winning.

It's a fair point, and hard to argue. Something is working though since he won the league in both of his years. Thats also hard to argue. And before everyone yells, "Yeah, but he won with other coaches players." Not really. Camper definitely. Pickett he gets some credit for. Carey too. WAs top recruiter on staff. Rest are his: Burns, King, Stormo, Harris, Hopkins and Carpenter......plus the rest of this entire roster. Lots of new faces, not much chemistry. Looking forward to seeing how well he does against everyone in the league not named Iona.

He will only have to pay half since he quit after semester started. I bet he leaves in December Not sure anyone knows the date of when he quit. Him leaving was mentioned weeks ago. He missed at least the first week, probably the 2nd too of school, so not sure if he ever took classes. Now a guy with 8 career posts says it true on Sept 28th, it must be....

Just because I don't post often doesn't mean I'm not involved in the discussions. I would never post something as speculation. I do plan on being a more active participant this year

This problem all started back with Dan Twerwilliger. It never gets old.
