1) No chance he redshirts and plays next year. Cant imagine he wants to play in the MAAC that badly 2) With all the transfer action this year, I can't imagine there being any legit reason to deny him the opportunity to play this year.

Maybe he doesn't want to play basketball and continue his education.

Mark confirms he's at Siena. Sure he confirmed it by reading the SH Board😉. We already knew he was on campus. The million $$$ question is why the announcement delay concerning joining the hoop roster. It was a pretty late move. The only thing that makes sense in my mind is a paperwork delay.

Why is he not a part of the team and participating in practice and team events? If he's enrolled he should be able to practice regardless of paperwork.

Why is he not a part of the team and participating in practice and team events? If he's enrolled he should be able to practice regardless of paperwork. If this really is about the number of classes he took last semester it might have to do with the NCAA rule that says you need to be a full-time student and taking a minimum number of courses (I think it is 9 credit hours) to be eligible to play sports. If he wasn’t taking 9 credit hours and played last semester was he technically ineligible so now maybe he needs to appeal to get his eligibility back? If he had already graduated by last semester I would have to believe that UNC compliance would have ensured he was at least enrolled in the minimum number, otherwise they would have been using an ineligible player. If he was enrolled, but never went to class and got incomplete’s does that require some waiver? Whatever the reason is, I just hope the NCAA makes a decision soon and this doesn’t drag on.

I can’t see why the NCAA wouldn’t allow him to play this year for Siena. Because the ncaa usually screws Siena. 😂

I can’t see why the NCAA wouldn’t allow him to play this year for Siena. —Has one more year of eligibility because of pandemic as all players did who played last year — Graduated from UNC and grads are automatically eligible — Never transferred before and new rule is every player can move once without sitting — Accepted into Siena already Hopefully the NCAA gives him the green light and this isn’t someone we’re waiting until November for. I just recall some date (July?) if you went into the portal before you were automatically eligible for that extra year. But after you needed a waiver. Am I dreaming that?

The NCAA is a very strange organization. I am guessing Platek will be approved to play. Unfortunately the NCAA operates at its own pace and it will take some time. Once cleared, he will be a very good player for the Saints.

If this takes a while, I guess the next question is...Can Platek practice with the team until then or is he prohibited per NCAA regs? We don't want to hear later we violated some rules.

Im sure our NCAA compliance officer is on top of it.
***I guess Platek did text Mark after the article came out: "Not ready to comment on anything yet."

I don't know how Carm does what he does with all the shifting sands of recruitment land, but I think we all have to understand that the competition is ferocious on two major counts. Siena is not a major sell on a national level like syracuse, or Kentucky et al. You may have a hard time believing that there are people who have never heard of Siena. Also there are basketball programs that have budgets for basketball almost as large as Siena's overall budget. There are some that have " phantom budgets larger than Siena's. If you notice the Ncaa will come down hard on the smaller schools and only make headlines on their investigating the bigger ones or those with nationally known coaches but drag out the investigations for years and not do anything. Look at the Kentucky coach as an example. He has gone from Mass., to Memphis, and now Kentucky. Then there is that guy at Iona just to name a few. It is a sad,sad joke. This is what Carm has to compete with.
