I think we should start talking in a more positive tone about the St. Rose game for the sake of the team. We should beat the drum for a large turn out. Many of these players have not played in front of large crowds and will be excited. Those of you who have connection with the media should urge them to bang the drum. Also we should tone down some of the talk about who we haven't recruited since that is a negative inference about who has been recruited. Put yourself in those players shoes. Just saying.

Mike - Your use of the phrase "bang the drum" in regards to the St. Rose exhibition game conjured up painful memories of when the Mystic Knights of McGuire, a group of 21 seniors living in McGuire Hall during the 1966-67 school year, made the ill-fated decision, to bang a bass drum on the quad until our basketball team won its first game. They proceeded to bang that drum day and night during a Loudonville winter for two weeks. Other members of the student body would show up with wood for the oil drum that kept the Mystic Knights from freezing to death and eventually taking some of the hour long shifts. A more detailed account of this crazed expression of school spirit will appear in the yet to be published memoir "We were Indians but Our Wives are Saints" or you can access back issues of the Times Union. Go Green!!!

Oh Lordy! Lost track of Siena BB during the 60s. Kids (3) were small and had other more important matters on my mind. But thanks for the info. Loved the story. This is why I like the board. Someone generally comes up with a piece of Siena history.

While searching on the reference above, I also came across a link for one of Siena’s yearbooks which referenced: Representative-at-Large “Joseph Muldoon” That name then always reminds me of this: m.youtube.com/watch?v=g7UcO4L3vmsFor those on Siena bus trips who know I can’t get enough of playing this on our way to and from the games. 😂 www.e-yearbook.com/yearbooks/Siena_College_Saga_Yearbook/1967/Page_270.html

IS thanks for the walk down memory lane. I used to love reading "The Observation Post" by Joe Boleric; never found out who Joe was but the legend on campus was he did that column for 8 yrs.,lol. That St.Peter's team had one of their all-time greats on it. Elnardo Webster we had no one to match up with him.

Just to nitpick-isn't the St.Rose team the Golden Knights? I know in a dumbed down USA it is OK to leave off the K.

IS, did you notice the name of the Senior Class President? Ooops, sorry about that Ralph. Ralph actually had three titles/listings. I remembered that Ralph brought a bunch of The Indian newsletters or maybe some other Siena college newsletter to the two day Tournament at Bryant for another fan but I got a chance to look at one or two.

I live in the Cumberland Mts. Of Virginia now. There is a 50-50 chance I will be in the area for the St. Rose Game. Can I just walk up and buy a ticket.
