"The 6’4″ speedster"? Did I miss something the last 3 years? Jalen is a talented player but a speedster? I think not! Was about to quote the same..... the web has become the national enquirer for info, everyone with a laptop and an internet connection is a “journalist” 😏

Cant see Jalen wanting to be the 4th guard at Syracuse.......playing time will be most important factor in which P6 school he ends up at. While I agree with your point that playing time would be most important factor in Jalen picking a P6 school and that on its face that would rule out Syracuse, the one school to buck that conventional wisdom would have to be Cuse. Not only a bit of a homecoming for him, but it'd be like joining the CityRocks Orangemen with Buddy-JG3-Symir. Has their been any mention of actual interest from Cuse though, or just a complete hypothetical?

There are a few factual inaccuracies with that piece by Damon Amendolara.
One, as several here have pointed out, JP isn't exactly what anyone could call a speedster. He's known for his old school game.
Two, JP was a 2 star prospect out of high school, not 3 stars. Any recruiting site having him as 3 stars added that third star after he blew up at Siena.
Third, see point #2 above as to why Jim Boeheim didn't notice JP - he was doesn't recruit 2 star players. JP was also a late academic qualifier, which was another why he wasn't noticed and had so few offers. If memory serves, Siena, Niagara, and Canisius where his only late offers.
Siena gave Pickett a chance when few others would and in return he gave us 3 superstar years. I would have preferred all 4, but I can't complain. He stayed longer than most in his position would have these days. Can't blame the kid for wanting to experience playing in the NCAA tournament - no sure thing at a program in the midst of a 10 year absence from the event. It should have been able to be accomplished during the 3 years one of the best players in MAAC history was here.
I fear the era of Siena having star players for 4 years is coming to an end. I'm not sure we'd keep guys like Marc Brown, Doremus Benerman, and Kenny Hasbrouck from freshman year until graduation now. It's a shame what's happening to the game.

Fair enough, I was going off verbal commits this year and did not look back. My point was that they had him as a 3 star recruit before he entered the transfer portal.

We know he was retroactively rated 3 stars while in college. My point was that the article is incorrect when it states that he was rated 3 stars out of high school while playing for the City Rocks. He wasn't.

Jeff Borzello ranked the top 100 transfers in a piece on ESPN + today. Jalen is listed at 19.
