The grass is always greener in Tennessee, or is it?😏 IDK I think when a lot of these kids look back at these portal moves it’ll be with a touch of regret. Don’t get me wrong some make sense but 1,300? That’s far too many thinking they can make a better move, don’t see it! Agreed ... that's why Marfo and Vaughn are returning to the MAAC. The grass isn't always greener.... Dont forget Kelly left BC for UMass and the 2 DePaul MAAC kids, Salnave and Paulicap, have both realized in just 10 months that Chicago wasnt the right spot for them.

College is about exploring outside your comfort zone and king is now doing that.

Jordan left our Tri-Cities area to play in the Tri-Cities area of Tennessee (ETSU is in Johnson City; TN - Tri-Cities are JC, Kingsport and Bristol) - long time Siena fans may recall Keith "Mister" Jennings who played at ETSU at the same time Marc Brown led us. Both were candidates for the '91 Naismith Award (seniors 6' or under) which was won by Jennings and he was later drafted by the NBA. Saw him play many times in Johnson City - ETSU has a great fan following and JK should have a solid finish to his college career...

Jordan's new coach, Desmond Oliver, had stints as an assistant with Jack Armstrong at Niagara in the late 90s and then with Jim Baron at Canisius & URI. Most recently he was on the staff of Rick Barnes at Tennessee. He replaces Jason Shay, a first year coach, who according to published reports alienated the fan base that Misspractice referred to for kneeling with his players prior to games.

Southern Conference ranked 10th to the MAAC's 20th so even a step up for JK. Good for him

I would have to go to Oak Ridge on business for 4 weeks every years for 4 years. I had driven my Pick Up down. I came out of my hotel one day and there was a "battle flag of northern virginia" decal on the back window. A few miles away was a restaurant I went to for lunch. I would look out the window and I would see a guy walk by my truck, touch my New York plates and rub the decal. I wish I had gone out to talk to him.

Love the south, retirement not too far off, will most likely be leaving this nanny - tax and spend drudgery, too bad, beautiful area but completely ruined by politicians!

Been in the south for 9 years. Be careful what you wish for. Don’t miss the weather, do miss just about everything else. Been down south enough to know what a tax friendly state looks like for retirees. States where there’s no tax on social security income, what states provide generous deductions on retirement income - investments or states that do not have an inheritance or estate tax. Not to mention low property taxes, great golf courses and beaches and beautiful weather, & politics that don’t control your every move. Bye bye NY. I’ll be joining the mass exodus in a couple more years - almost 130k last year. NYS is losing more people annually than just about every other State in the country. Tells you all you need to know! As the money leaves, taxes & regulation will only increase. NY / NE is beautiful, it’s just over taxed and over regulated. Too bad!

Can we please get this thread cleaned up? I am tired of reading people trashing NY but will refrain from a full (admittedly political) rebuttal. I strongly prefer the north but I think it's clear enough at this point that regional preference one way or another is a personal choice not related to Siena basketball. This conversation is going nowhere good and needs to at least be moved off this section of the board...

Thread started as an announcement of King possibly transferring (entering the portal).
Then after listing his destination morphed into that college’s location and then politics of locations (including NYS as a comparison).
I too vote for cleaning up any comments not specifically related to King and/or his new team.
But I don’t make the rules.
