It is certainly a different game if the NCAA doesn't reinstate the requirement that transfers sit out a year. The NCAA must have felt the majors needed some "help" to lessen the impact of the "one and done" situation. Unless it is changed mid major basketball will be ruined. We'll see if the NCAA cares if that is the case. My bet is they don't. The money is in the majors and it is always about the money. You're right Bill. I am so confused about this rule. It was supposedly on the table BEFORE the pandemic. WAS there a vote on it or was this current situation an exception for the pandemic? I have lost track. I'm not sure where it stands either, but unless kids have to sit out a year if they transfer it will continue to be chaos.

"It's sink or swim time." Sink like in the morass of NCAA violations by Louisville, Kansas, USC, North Carolina and Arizona? I'll take the back the back MAAC championships. What is Carm's record after his first two years? Iona fans should keep looking over their shoulders waiting for the glacier-like NCAA to announce the penalties for the infractions cited in the published reports of their investigation. Remind me again why we didn't hire this paragon of virtue who was "Born to Coach," a book he co-authored with Bill Reynolds? What a bitter old bastard you are.

Nothing, 2 POY, both gone and no dancing. Carm has his work cut out for him, Sink or swim.

HJ says "Now we can't keep our best players."Who was Jalen Pickett before he came to Siena? Why didn't he end up at Syracuse out of high school? If you take a look back over the years Siena has always developed its best players: Brent Bisping, Ryan Rossiter, Manny Camper, etc. over their four years of eligibility. That is a hallmark of our program and I expect that will continue under Coach Carm w/this excellent class of incoming recruits. Yes, it's a new normal now with the eligibility rules changed for transfers. It's no longer about the college experience or earning a degree, it's about playing time and the name recognition of the next school, I am thinking about the deflated basketball that John Thompson kept on his desk at Georgetown."Iona can keep its best players..." Besides the two senior guards, Iona's cupboard was bare when Pitino took over so he recruited anyone who could tie their sneakers and those who had trouble with the loops are being shown the door this spring. He's replacing them with transfers who are already veterans so let's not give him too much credit for developing talent. "Now they beat us by 25." Tell that to Jack Mulvey (Siena HOF) who gave Warren Isaacs, the Iona All American center, the ass whipping of his career one night back in the day. Bring on the Gaels - that's why they play the games. Your statement is all well and good if you’re goal is to develop players and not win championships. In this day and age if you bring a kid up to his next level or two he’s gone. It’s time to play Ionas game. Cluess saw it, now Pitino, it’s sink or swim time for Siena. Things have changed in college hoops, get on or get out of the way. Cluess was ahead of his time. Embrace the transfer has to be a major thing going forward with mixing in a few elite frosh. But developing players? Those days are over. I have no desire to be a farm team.

Ooh, I poked the bear, or was it a Gael? Where did the age thing come? Bastard maybe, but old? And seriously, regarding the MAAC Championships last year. Iona was on the bus back to New Rochelle after losing in the first round and Siena was waiting for the semi-final game. That's where Covid got us...

Back on a bus to New Rochelle with an interim coach. However this year Siena was on a bus heading back to Loudonville with Carm at the helm. No excuses just the reality.

Sarcasm aside, because D'Arg is cheap How high up the chain do you think a decision to hire or not hire Rick Pitino would have to go? If you think that decision was going to be made by an AD, you are way, way off-base.

My expectation is for Siena to continue to win the MAAC or MAAC Tournament and get to NCAA Tournament.
