Could ESPN possibly have assigned a worse broadcast crew for the championship game? The play by play guy was awful. No enthusiasm, boring voice, superficial and trite comments. What a lousy showcase for the MAAC. A far cry from championship game on a Monday on ESPN2 with a real broadcast crew. Yeah the MAAC title was on ESPN or ESPN2 on Monday night at 7 or 9 with Sean McDonough and Bill Raftery/Jay Bilas. Time for Ensor to retire.

That was before they moved the MAAC Tournament to championship weekend cause of NJ state wrestling tournaments. Is so much easier to get TV coverage the prior week.

Tourney should switch to campus based sites. Reward the higher seeds.

MAAC should be getting better. We didn't really have any OOC games this year - so next year with them back it will be a test.
You need good coaches which will led to good players.
Pitino is Pitino... Carm is good. I think Paulus will be pretty good. Rice and Baggett aren't great but solid same for Reggie Witherspoon. Holloway is good how long he stays at St. Peter's we'll see. Young at Fairfield looks decent. Dunne is solid.
Masiello probably needs to hit the road. Baker is on the hotseat for sure.

Pitino's interest in Siena only lasted as long as it took for the news to reach him that Siena was not paying 7 figures. I think everything worked out for the best. Pitino can help raise the MAAC back to midmajor status and Siena doesn't have to dance with the devil. He wanted Siena they did not want to dance with him after the JP fiasco. He was desperate for a job. Some at Siena wanted him but ultimately Brother Ed would not sign off on it. I also can’t believe Iona is paying him a million dollars a year. Maybe 750K. Nope. Million.

Agree, both were horrible and it's just lazy at this point to not have in person broadcasting. The "color" was Chris Spatola, son in law of coach K so we know where his big break came from. He has a flat voice and gives you little insight. Color guy as in.....khaki.

True, the good ol days when the MAAC title was on Monday night with the big 3, the best cbb broadcast team ever assembled on their way down to the big east tourney. Was a great time and Raff loves the Albany area. Have chatted with him a few times at the track and Pagliaccis across the street from the arena back in the glory days:) good times we all miss.

Next year for Iona:
They need shooters. If Gist and Ross are gone, that leaves Myers and possibly Van Eyck back as capable shooters.
Obsorn Shema, Koroma, and Junior Joseph will become forces.
They might have the best young front line in the MAAC.
Next year commits:
F Jordan Wildy SG Joshua Duach PG Walter Clayton, Jr. PG Christian Wright
Are all offers exhausted? We will see.

Great post as this league used to hang its hat on very good coaches with acumen and personality and a PRESENCE. on top of the talent on the floor. Thus, guys like ruland, Bobby G (man I miss him, lol), mihalick, cluess, and of course Jimmy P @ Loyola. With seasons 3 rows up from the visiting bench; man this league was fun. One of the top mids with some juice! As for these days; sure its changed, masiello has some juice but not sure how much longer he sticks. King has labeled out. Remember when he was being touted as the next big thing to replace Roy at UNC ? Paulus could be decent, don't think he has that fire to be special and he definitely doesn't have that juice I spoke of above. The rest of the league is blah, its down. Would love to see this league get back it's MOJO AND IT MIGHT START WITH THE COACHES!

If his comments are genuine and he plans on staying at Iona the Saints will have their hands full. Quality players are going to want to play for him and go to Iona. Siena and the rest of the MAAC are going to need to step up their programs or Iona will dominate as they did under Cluess.
