Wonder if teams like Duke, Michigan State, Syracuse will accept an NIT bid?

yup, this was posted in another thread about a week ago..............and because the NIT is "owned" the NCAA, they will gather the field by the net ratings...............so rest assured, the First 4 OUT and the Next 4 OUT are almost certainly invited to the NIT........that group would not include Siena..........the remaining 8 teams would be selected based upon the highest net ratings on the board .............auto-bids for mid-majors that fail to win their conference tourney are going to be left out in the cold this year............

Time for my rant that regular season conference champions should be the ones with auto-bids to the NCAA tournament
Honestly it's those 13-13 teams that randomly win their conference tournaments that should be sent to NIT

Time for my rant that regular season conference champions should be the ones with auto-bids to the NCAA tournament Honestly it's those 13-13 teams that randomly win their conference tournaments that should be sent to NIT this is truly the fairest way, but then there will be those who will argue that you aren't the best team if you can't win your conference tournament at the end of the year.............LOL, what makes more sense (in a normal season), 5 months of games within your league proving you are the best team, or hoping lightening strikes and you get lucky by winning 3-4 games at the very end...............of course, the conferences themselves benefit financially from these tournaments (well, the big ones do because of the huge TV contracts to telecast them, so they likely aren't going away anytime soon)...................as a side thought, I feel that the NIT should go away, and the 32 teams that are typically invited to that event just get devoured by the NCAA tournament, you then have 96 total teams, it would allow for those so-called bubble teams and mid-majors to be slotted in the field more prominently (no one should bitch getting left out of that event).....the bracket for that 96 team really is just one extra weekend (if that), each region gets 24 teams with the top 8 getting a bye (no more playin games or first 4).....you actually get more competitive games in that first round of seeds 9 thru 24..........who doesn't want to watch more basketball, the TV networks would eat this up, as would the fans.............then if anyone really wants to bitch, then go play in either of the 2 C tournaments left (CIT or CBI)...............

I agree and think about what that field of 64 will look like after the first round. Long overdue.

Watching 2 seed St Mary's vs 3 seed Western Kentucky and have no doubt Siena would have been very competitive in this year's NIT. Oh well! :-(
