Hate to burst everyone’s bubble but Carm isn’t going anywhere for awhile. If they keep playing like yesterday Carm will be here awhile. It has nothing to do with how well or poor Siena is doing; it has to do with he’s not looking or really interested in going to Fordham.

John Dunne would be good at Fordham. Seriously. He is at places at it is tough to win at and is competitive.

Carm wouldn’t leave for Fordham. BC is going to be open and that’s a job he would take. His wife is from Boston and that’s where her family lives. Think he would need to win the league and the MAAC tourney this year for it to happen but BC could say they got the hot coach and he would have the endorsements from Cooley, Fran, City Rocks among many others. Makes sense given where he likes to recruit in years past.

I see a guy like Becker from Vermont or Odom at UMBC who won an NCAA game. Could even see Pitino. How about BC grad Mark Schmidt who has done a great job at SBU? Siena needs to give Carm a new 5 year deal and a nice bump in pay. Make him feel wanted and appreciated. Now if we make a run in the tournament maybe he gets some attention— that’s a good problem to have.

It would be nice to have your level of optimism concerning Carm (or any coach) staying at a school where they have strong ties and an emotional attachment, but realistically, you have to know that any coach as young as Carm is going to move if the right opportunity comes along. They have to. Coaching is a business, not a “calling”. And when a coach moves, I believe that most often it isn’t a personal decision, it’s a business decision. If a coach can double or triple a salary, why wouldn’t he move?

Have to remember not only is Carm going to want a raise but his staff as well. Years they can do, dollars will need a big booster to step in. They lost a big one in Donahue when Patsos got canned. They were boys. Schmidt has already turned down BC once. He’s got huge job security at Bona. Becker possibly but his family loves UVM and there upgrading their facilities right now. Odom isn’t the hot name right now unless he gets back to the tournament. Longernan could be in play.

BC is a great school, but a horrible job. They'll NEVER be relative in the ACC.

If a coach can double or triple a salary, why wouldn’t he move? In general, I agree with most of that. And if we don't have optimism, what do we have? All conjecture at this point anyway. However, I do think there's more to decisions than merely money. If he continues on his trajectory, I do think he will move on. I just don't think its this year.
