I completely agree that Carm is committed, loves and is 100% dedicated to the Siena Program; also agree the Fordham job does not seem to be that attractive...what, IMO, folks are not taking into account is the reality that coaches have families, realistically view their jobs as almost totally dependent on how 19-22 year old kids play, and know the brass ring only comes around a few times...$900K as a starting salary is a pretty big brass ring when you are making less than half that number and he has a wife/family that might see things much differently than we do...Fran was deeply committed and dedicated and loved the Siena Program/Family and his team but the BIG brass ring was too good to pass up...we want Carm to succeed at Siena so we will have to recognize the risks associated when we realize that success...

Exactly, and if he is successful at Fordham it could lead to millions. Coaches coach to get paid and will be dedicated and loyal to wherever they land and the name on the Jersey. If the money isn't an issue guys would never move on. If Siena matches any offers then you could say he might not leave for another place it's the nature or the business.

Bad facilities, terrible roster, years of being down. Fordham is more likely to be attractive to a retread than a coach truly in an upward track. A coach looking for an immediate payday rather than one with a long term plan. That said, if the NCAA goes forward with allowing student athletes one transfer without sitting out, look out for coaches at mid majors with one or more stud players in their program.

Probably time to start looking for another coach. Siena can't compete with $900k. He ain't going to Fordham. Exactly people mention Fran. Fran went to Iowa. Big difference. Iowa and Georgia Tech are destination jobs. You can go from Siena to the big time. Fordham is career suicide.

And to be clear, I think the $900K number is for a proven, veteran name with a winning background. Carms career as a HC is just beginning, and its off to a great start. Not sure they'd give that kind of money to a coach with only 2 years under his belt. His time will come, and hopefully its years from now

I guess it is a good sign that people want our coach but I'd like him to win something first. Like a maac tournament title? Not too much to ask for imo

Fordham is career suicide. You like hypotheticals. Say he goes to Fordham and fails and is fired after 4 seasons, he makes almost 4m and Siena is floundering around .500 since his departure, you and most of the fan base would welcome him back as well as the administration. Just saying.

Not too much to ask for imo Well he already won the regular season title and could (hopefully) have another one and NCAA bid. Jimmy made $460K his 4th year at Siena and he never finished higher than third. Carm should get a new 5 year contract worth $500K after this year. Make him feel appreciated.

Hate to burst everyone’s bubble but Carm isn’t going anywhere for awhile. If they keep playing like yesterday Carm will be here awhile.

Hate to burst everyone’s bubble but Carm isn’t going anywhere for awhile. If they keep playing like yesterday Carm will be here awhile. The board gets too high and too low. And I'm guilty of it too first one to admit it. We don't stink and Carm is a good coach who has a lot of winning to do before there is any thought of him moving up. We're not even three years out from the Patsos disaster. Yet we have one regular season title and in good shape to win another one.

I'd say if Siena wins the maac again this year Carm is two for two and he definitely is on some lists. Getting to the NCAA if it happens puts his name to the top of some lists.
