Sloan with 6 minutes as GW gets routed by UMBC. GW was down 25 in 2nd half before making a run to make it close but still lost by 11. GW falls to 1-3 and Sloan can barely get off the bench. Amazing he would leave a situation (granted he wasn’t a fit with Carm) to follow JC to GW and not get any run. Honestly he would have been better off at UA which likes to slow the pace and run sets. Could see Sloan dropping down again after this year. Yikes, losses to UMBC, Navy, and UMBC already, they will probably give him next year to show progress but if not he will be looking for another job. Think we dodged a bullet with him leaving and Carm taking over.

Don had 19 tonight, four of them in the last two minutes of regulation as the Hoyas rallied from seven down against St. John’s to force OT, and then a pair of free throws to give Georgetown the lead for good. Per the box score he had five rebounds and five assists against only one TO.
Glad to see him doing well.

Nice to see, wish his leaving was a little less confusing but fully support the kid who was most screwed over by Jamion's jump to GW. We could use him this year, he'd be a key guy in quarantine.

My bad. I looked at the wrong column in the box score. But he had none in the final seven minutes that I watched.

GW falls to 1-5 Monday night with a loss to Delaware. Was up 15 at half and gave up the lead. Jamison getting crushed by the “fan” base on twitter over his coaching already. Lack of “mayhem” and only shooting 3’s with a team that doesn’t shoot the 3 well. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Nelson Jr. look for a new program after this year. They brought in a guard Nelson who reminds me of Nico in how he plays. They just don’t play well with each other like Nico and Wright did.

Carey getting 32 minutes a game through 6 at Georgetown, easy to compare the numbers to Siena since he played 31.4 MPG here. He is making 1.8 out of 4.7 3 pointers per game, almost identical to the 1.8 out of 4.8 3s he was making at Siena. The big difference is his shooting from 2, he's taking far less 2 point attempts (down from 4.5 per game to 2.8) but is making them at a much higher rate (up from 45% to 64%). The downside to that is he's only getting to the line 0.7 times per game instead of 2.3 times per game which hurts him since he excels from the line. He is also being called on a lot more to rebound at Georgetown, 5.2 rebounds compared to 3.3 at Siena. Other numbers are quite similar. So looks like he's thriving in his role as a 3 point specialist that only takes high quality looks from inside the arc and works hard on the boards.

Georgetown just got a commitment from Carey’s replacement. 5 star combo guard who may enroll in January

Don seems to be scoring less of late. Average is down to 9.7 and the Hoyas are ahead of only DePaul. But he’s close to home and a graduate degree from Georgetown is pretty meaningful.
Meanwhile, Sloan is averaging only 11 mpg and I think 6 ppg and GW is struggling. I don’t think he would be playing more if he had stayed and might not be playing as much.

Don provides extended analysis of what G’town problem is ... seems like it’s a deja vu experience for his game www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/01/08/georgetown-basketball-turnovers/

Sloan would have been much better off staying at Siena. His shooting ability from virtually anywhere in the halfcourt would make double teaming Pickett impossible. His best chance to thrive at the D1 level was with Pickett. Not saying he would be a star here but Carm certainly would have found a role for him.

With Carms passion for defense, I doubt Sloan would ever get on the floor.

Might be true against some teams but against King Rice's double team Pickett defense he would have been the perfect guy to send out there and prevent Monmouth from using the other 3 defenders to clog the paint. I've seen way too many missed open 3s this year off brilliant passes from Pickett to believe there wouldn't be a role for Seymour on this team.
