Another year with Camper sure would be fun and of course for Pickett as well. I assume this also means that Carpenter will still be a freshman in 2021-2022? Of course, they will probably play it smart and all graduate on time to keep their options open. Opens up quite the opportunity for grad transfers as they will not be able to get a full two years of grad school paid.

Speaking of giving extra years of eligibility, I saw JO walking around downtown Troy. He is exactly what we need to round out our team - maybe we get him an extra year somehow in this whacky system.

I'm not sure I like the idea of the extra year. I can't see Pickett staying nor would I THINK Manny would stay either. How does this affect the classes and future freshman? That is, say, 1-3 guys stay every year for the next 3-4 years. Seems like that would discourage underclassmen. Or I can also see th best juniors being more apt to transfer. Take Jalen for example - if he has 2 more years after this year, he may want to try a bigger school. Seems like they will have to be VERY strict on waivers.
I can also see it putting a big strain on finances if they're paying for extra scholarships. I don't think I am a fan of it.

There was no reason to make this decision so early. Wait and see how it goes. It looks like the NCAA is going to implement the no sit out transfer rule (another bad idea in my opinion) next year so waivers won’t be an issue

With an extra year and no-sit, I can see even more transfers than normal, esp from the mids.

I think getting your college education paid for is a pretty good benefit for a student athlete.

The fact that you don't like that they will get an extra year due to having their career impacted by COVID because they could transfer to another school is pretty ridiculous.

If you read my original comment I didn’t say I was against them getting an extra year because of Covid. I said it didn’t make sense to make the decision now. No reason they couldn’t have waited.

I think the concern was if they waited any longer they would wind up with entire teams opting to redshirt rather than waste eligibility on an uncertain season. This way every conference can go ahead and schedule without that concern.

the extra year is great for the athletes because of this covid crisis, although one has to wonder what it does to scholarships & rosters for any school...................sorry, but the no-sit transfer rule (and I think it is a one time for the student athlete) is going to change the game in a big negative way, mid-majors like Siena are gonna feel the pain of possibly having talented players leave immediately for bigger schools, thus making it harder to keep talent.........this only caters to those power schools who want to gobble up as much talent as possible with no considerations what so ever...........if the NCAA was more consistent with how they grant waivers then the current system of sitting out a year would still be effective, and besides do they really want to double or triple the # of transfers every year, makes no sense, imho................
