Ojo being our most experienced big scares me. I think he's a nice player and will have that soph jump we've seen, but the bigs GMac bought in all have serious question marks. Injuries (Carey & Wilmoth) and HS youth (Jones & Brafford). A 5th year big would help us while these guys get their footing, and then we can use his scholarship for a special '25 kid.

I have no worries about Ojo, my only worries would be if he went on a milkshake diet. I want that dude adding a few pounds of muscles but want him lean as hell to block shots and get steals.

I know most everyone thinks that a mature portal PF is needed for the 13th '24 scholarship, but could it be possible the Christian Jones used up that scholarship as a '25. I understand the transfer history but it seems McNamara is big on loyalty both to and from players could it be that Christian Jones is filling the 13th scholarship? No player on the current roster is without eligibility next season. I hope not because I too believe that PF is needed to solidify the '24 roster and not as a "13th" player, but a guy who is securely in the playing group and a contributor, not just a practice player. Is there any info on a potential PF in the pipeline?

But yes, I have the same worries that they are only allowing 13 scholarships at a time. I hope they let Gerry recruit 3 freshman a year regardless of available scholarships. With the portal that should be the new norm.

I was told he is under major pressure to win and they will let him run the program as he sees fit. The new era requires him to be signing kids ahead of time and not waiting for an official transfer announcement. Basic analytics would say at least 3 kids will leave and probably many more.

My only concern is getting the 13th scholarship filled this year. If he signs a '25 kid with no apparent open scholarships next year I'm good with that. I believe the team needs to fill the 13th '24 scholarship with a PF from the portal who can contribute. My question is still: Is there any info as to the staff's involvement with any players who are available in the portal. It is getting late, but there are still capable players out there to be signed. Does Siena have any in the pipeline at this time.

I'd be real happy with a Degnan or Baer at this point. As long as their 24, smart, proof he stays healthy, and can grab 8 rebounds a game.
After he does his one-and-done, most of our frontline would be upperclassman in '25-'26. with a lot more minutes/experience under their belt.

Agree - a big bodied kid at 6-7 or 6-8 who will set some picks, grab a tough rebound and provide some adult leadership

I’m not sure who is left that fits that criteria but a guy like Alex Sobol SHU NEC who had similar numbers to Almonor & FDU - 12 ppg 7 boards 3 blocks seems to fit. He’s an older kid with 1 year left. He made the move from d3 last year. 6 8 230 he won’t wow you with athleticism but looks like he’s capable of minutes and reinforcing the inside. Very consistent box scores (checkout his game logs). Reminds me a little of a poor man’s Stormo.
