Yeah, it was so frustrating to read Times-Union coverage of Siena last year when all Singelais did was throw softballs to Coach Carm — never asking him hard questions or second-guessing his decisions.

Sounds like the Iona fans when they secured the next Coach K last year, then finished sub .500 So I agree we shouldnt be too optimistic, UNLESS we hit 2 HR's with these last 2 schollies. It is a crapshoot with a whole new team. It’s a different rebuild than the ones that Hewitt, Fran, Jimmy and Jamion took over. They basically had to do it with the pieces that were left over. I’ll be happy if we can go to Atlantic City with 16 or 17 wins and feeling like we have a realistic chance to win three games in March. Hopefully we can get two more impact guys added to a solid looking roster.

I agree rebuilding can be difficult. However we went out and hired a winner.., His attitude will permiate the team.
I believe h recruited kids who had both the physical make up he wanted and a work ethic and drive we will enjoy.

Recruiting makes coaches look smart, or dumb.

Found another kid of interest. Chimobi Ikegwuruka is 6'6" 200 forward from Ellsworth CC in Iowa. Best player (19 and 10) on a 29-8 team.
Lefthander from Galway Ireland (NOTHING like Gribben) is uber athletic and finishes at the rim whenever he wants. Runs the floor like a deer.
Has 3 years left. Went to visit East Carolina on Monday.
He'd be a real good MAAC player.

AA just committed to Kentucky. Sucks not getting him but never any shame in losing out to a blue blood

AA just committed to Kentucky. Sucks not getting him but never any shame in losing out to a blue blood “Go on take the money and run” The irony of this is that the ONLY reason Almonor was going to go to Siena over Iona was because Siena was willing to overpay NIL for him.

That's what it comes down to now. Whoever is the highest bidder. Most of these kids aren't playing pro in any kind of capacity so getting any degree for free + a few hundred grand?!?! Why not? I do think we need some sort of contract agreement to go along with this. Coaches at all levels can't be expected to completely turn over the roster every year. There has to be more stability than that. Plus fans can't be expected to learn 9 or 10 new names and faces every year and still be engaged. I also think there will likely be league-based NIL caps, but maybe not. That would create a bit more parity within the league but may kill MMs on the outside chance they could get a real "up" player.

$$$ SEC & Ky > $ MAAC & Siena this was a case of no contest. Who can blame him, Gmac now has to audible to option B. We still have NIL $, we should be good ok.
