They should start the season in August too and play the conference games. That way they are in before this blows up again. That’s not going to happen. They’re not playing in August. And it’s not going to “blow up” again. It’s not March 12. We are much more prepared to deal with it (i.e. protect vulnerable and nursing homes) I do appreciate the information. Hopefully they can go to 6K don’t see why that can’t happen in a 15K arena. People who have concerns should watch on TV. You may need to face reality again. Colleges all over the country are seeing their athletes test positive. Texas, Michigan, Boise state, oklahoma, Arkansas state.... if only they would stop testing (according to our leader). Now schools are getting them to sign waivers and schools such as UCLA are having their athletes band together in opposition. The swac has set a cancellation date for its fall sports programs altogether. We can watch the games on zoom, but they can't play the games over zoom. This thing is far from over and no one can say for sure whether any games will be played this year, especially given the time period of the games, which is the worst time period. Plus football is outside while basketball is inside. I hope you are right and it will be business as normal... if the games are happening and I'm in the top 3,000 I will be there, but I have my doubts. Things that I have never thought possible has already happened, but I'm not seeing any forward thinking for basketball yet. Why not move the season... give the kids a guarantee that they will play and they can even do it outside in all the unused baseball stadiums.

Having Tate available in Orlando would certainly help our chances of pulling an upset. That would depend largely on what role he’s playing. Tate scares me as much as he intrigues me. If his offensive efficiency doesn’t improve from URI, he could single handedly act like a ball and chain to this team. His defense wasnt overly impressive either. If he improves, plays a pick and roll role, and gets his PPS way up...then he could be a watered down David Laury type for us. He’s talented but I’m scared of him though. I’d almost rather he was ineligible early so the team could gel early and make him really earn a role when he comes back.

COVID is increasing here in TLH also. Recently an FSU football player tested positive. All that being said I can’t see the BCS conferences not having football and the other sports. These things are part of life.

He had 2nd semester last season and whatever preseason and first part of this season to gel, plus Carm will make him earn whatever time he gets. Having more options as early as possible isn’t a bad thing.

Having more options as early as possible isn’t a bad thing. I hope so. He could be anywhere from All-maac to all-Maurice White for us. I hope we get the AAU version of Dana Tate that played more inside, drew more fouls, and shot like 76% from the FT line...and not the jumper happy, perimeter focused, never at the line, 52% FT shooting version that was at URI. He should not be taking so many threes and should try to become the Pickett and Roll partner. So far it's taken him 170 shots to get 162 points in his career. Hein came in having taken 173 shots to get 164 pts.....very similar. He simply needs to be better cause, frankly, that's not going to cut it. And that scares me. It was no coincidence that the team started winning by wider margins once Hein went down. Hein's net ortg/drtg was -21.2 last year. Tate, at URI, was -17.4. Burns was +28.5. Kyle Young (because of his defense and plus rebounding) was +6.3 last year. Whomever plays center has to be better than that to make it worth it. And playing Tate at small forward is a step backward for what he needs to focus on and what would make Siena better. He's not a good perimeter shooter and he doesn't have the defensive potential of Harris nor the all-around potential of Carpenter. Golson, BK, and Curry might even all be better suited at the 5 because they know what they are. I just worry how Tate's game will work for us. If he plays the 5, is efficient in the Pickett and Roll, and brings a positive A/TO to that position like David Laury did...then he can afford to not be as good of a defender or rebounder as Young etc.. We don't want him out on the perimeter too much where he's struggled in D1 to this point. Tate may have to stick to backing up Camper...the role to which he is perhaps best suited. However, that means his minutes may no be that many.

Jalen can raise the level of even an average player.

Jalen can raise the level of even an average player. IF he plays the 5. He was used as a SF at URI. However, you have to also consider rebounding and interior D. The fact is that Golson is more athletic and perhaps even a better rebounder. Young IS a way better rebounder already and knows what he is. Young's only competition for being best rebounder might be Golson. BK has perhaps the most all-around 2-way upside of all these guys...but he's just thin. Curry is basically a more turnover proned, better rebounding Tate if Tate played center. Hell, Curry might even be the better shooter of the two considering he shot 37% from three at JUCO. Curry is veteran insurance. Until Camper leaves, Tate's most logical position is simply occupied. And, long term, others like Harris, Golson, or whomever might even end up better at PF. Tate simply has a lot of work to do. Right now he's just an average rebounding tweener who takes decent care of the ball. If he's going to help us this year, he has to really step up his game. For what it's worth, I'm sort of envisioning a future where BK could be our starting center going forward after this year. We just need to get through this year until he bulks up and gets ready. He's the tallest, most skilled, and perhaps even the best defensively in the long term.

He won’t have that issue in the MAAC and I think he can be more of the AAU Tate.

Any position issue with Tate should fall on the coaching staffs shoulders. He's been there for several months practicing with the team. Im guessing Carm and his guys have let him know where he fits in, and what they need from him. The perimeter is pretty much set. We need a producer to replace Burns. That should be transparent to everyone.

on the semester, I think what he meant was that classes would end around Thanksgiving, but that exams will take place "remotely" in December..........so the semester likely won't end until after the last final is taken..........this what many schools are now doing, getting students home before the traditional flu season begins in Dec which is most commonly happens................... I don’t know if he was being facetious or not, but Carm said he is hoping that Tate may be able to take his semester finals early, and get his grades finalized, so he will be able to play games sooner. Sounds like Carm wants to get this years Maurice White on the floor sooner than later.

Florida's numbers keep breaking records. Over 4000 positives today. We're in Venice and few wear masks(interferes with their facade of manliness or toughness and ability to eat at Wendy's) and are actually still spouting science denials and conspiracy theories (dem plan to make Trump look bad). Meanwhile DeSantis, our mini me governor was counting on MLB and the NBA and those plans are either dead or in jeopardy. Cuomo is hosting the Mets and Yankees in NY-where the reverse numbers are in effect. What irony.

Maurice White was a visionary which is why he is in the Rock and Roll HOF. I actually like the version Phil Bailey sings a little better though

I just heard, from the man, he was a really tough kid and could defend talented wings. I always believe great teams need role players. Not everyone can score 15-18 a game. Without him we dont win the CBI title, so I'm good with his one big game! lol And White didnt come down from the A-10 as a 4 star recruit.
