Yup. It did for Mike, Paul, Fran, Jamion and now Carm.
I hope our AD can start to see the common thread.

Carm did a great job this season winning the MAAC in his first season as a head coach. But I'd temper any declaration of easy early success. While the early returns suggest that he has what it takes to be a success, there are some caveats here. He did it with mostly with other people's players. I remind you that Mitch Bonaguro and Steve Masiello each have two MAAC titles earned with their predecessor's players. Once their predecessors' players departed, their true ability became apparent and both tanked. Carm still has some work to do to establish he can win with his own players going forward in a post-Burns, Camper and Pickett era. Guys like Harris and Carpenter appear to suggest he's got that covered too. We'll see what his first full recruiting class as a head coach looks like when the incoming frosh suit up. That will be very telling.

I really like Carpenter, BK and Golson as far as their future potential.
I just want upper classman BK and Golson sooner, rather than later.
Harris, I like as a defensive glue guy long term. It remains to be seen how much he will develop on offense.
If Carpenter is great, the pieces should fall into place for the future. If he isn't, then there's a lot of work to do.

That will be very telling. And let's not forget that Patsos won a national title in his first year with both inherited players AND a great freshman class. I'm extremely confident in Carm especially given that he has already shown he can learn from mistakes but we can't get too caught up in one year. Let's see continued success so we can move on to worrying about what Power 6 conference might want to interview him instead of whether his a great coach.

As sad as this is, he still has to prove he can win a championship game.

As sad as this is, he still has to prove he can win a championship game. Never got the chance. Did win that game at Monmouth in dominating fashion to win the regular season championship. I agree with the above Carm had a great first year but we shouldn’t put him in Springfield just yet. But he also had a big part as the top assistant in 18-19 rebounding a mess and transitioned seemingly as HC and got better as the season went on which is a great sign! Next year we will be expecting to win both the regular season and tournament championships. More pressure on Carm for sure but I’m confident he’s up for it.
